Principal AI Product Engineer | C#/.NET | Production AI | SaaS

Remote (Australia & New Zealand) | Up to $250,000 + Super

We're partnering exclusively with a global SaaS company to find an exceptional Principal AI Product Engineer to help shape the next generation of AI capabilities across a mature, market-leading software platform.

This isn't an AI research role.

It isn't a prompt engineering role.

And it isn't about building another chatbot.

The engineering team has already shipped multiple AI capabilities into production.

They're now looking for someone who can raise the bar.

We're not looking for someone who's just started building AI features. We're looking for someone who's repeatedly designed, built, shipped and evolved production AI capabilities, and can bring those learnings into an engineering team that's already delivering AI at scale.

The Opportunity

You'll join a high-performing product engineering team building intelligent software used by thousands of customers globally.

Working across C#, .NET and modern web technologies, you'll design, build and continuously improve customer-facing AI capabilities that solve real business problems.

This role is about far more than getting an AI feature into production.

It's about owning AI products over time, learning from real customer usage, iterating, improving and helping shape the future direction of AI across the platform.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build and ship customer-facing AI capabilities across a mature SaaS platform.

  • Own AI features from technical design through to production, monitoring and continuous improvement.

  • Build scalable backend applications using C#/.NET.

  • Develop modern APIs and cloud-native services.

  • Evaluate and improve AI systems using production data, customer feedback and engineering insights.

  • Work closely with Product, Design and Engineering to solve complex customer problems.

  • Mentor engineers and help establish best practices for building reliable AI-powered software.

  • Help raise the technical capability of an engineering team already delivering AI into production.

What We're Looking For

You'll be an exceptional software engineer with deep commercial experience building and evolving production AI products.

Ideally you'll bring:

  • Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET.

  • Experience building and shipping multiple customer-facing AI capabilities into production.

  • Experience owning AI products beyond their initial launch, continually improving them through production learnings and customer feedback.

  • Strong commercial experience working with Large Language Models.

  • Experience evaluating, monitoring and improving AI systems in production.

  • Excellent engineering fundamentals across modern SaaS platforms and cloud-native architectures.

  • Experience working collaboratively across engineering, product and design teams.

  • Daily use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or GitHub Copilot.

Most importantly, you'll have real stories about what you've built, what failed, what you learned, and how those lessons made your next AI product better.

This Role Probably Isn't For You If...

  • Your AI experience has primarily been internal tooling or proof-of-concepts.

  • You've only recently started building production AI features.

  • You're looking for an AI research or machine learning research role.

  • You haven't yet owned AI capabilities through multiple production iterations.

Why You'll Want This Role

  • Up to $250,000 + Super.

  • Fully remote across Australia & New Zealand.

  • Join an experienced engineering team already shipping AI into production.

  • Significant ownership over customer-facing AI capabilities.

  • Influence the future AI roadmap of a globally used SaaS platform.

  • Solve challenging engineering problems with modern technologies.

  • Work alongside engineers who already embrace AI as part of everyday software development.

Apply

If you're an experienced AI Product Engineer who has repeatedly built, shipped and evolved production AI capabilities and is excited by the opportunity to raise the bar within an already capable engineering team, we'd love to have a confidential conversation.
