Principal AI Security Engineer
About the role
You will serve as the most senior technical engineer in SEEK's newly formed AI Security team, acting as the technical anchor for our AI Security program. Reporting to the Head of AI Security, you will lead the design, build and operation of security capabilities that enable SEEK's engineering and product teams to adopt AI technologies safely and at velocity. You will set the technical bar for the team, mentor Senior AI Security Engineers, and influence engineering decisions across SEEK.
We recognize the global market for AI security specialists is small, and we are open to two pathways into this role. The successful candidate combines strong software engineering capability with deep expertise in either AI security or AI/ML engineering, and working command of the adjacent domain. We welcome AI security specialists with strong AI/ML literacy, and equally welcome experienced AI/ML, data science, or platform engineers with a demonstrated interest in AI security and a clear commitment to making it their primary discipline going forward.
This is a hands-on technical role where you will build, integrate and operate SEEK's AI security platform including MCP and LLM security gateways, prompt injection defenses, and AI security testing automation. You will be equally comfortable writing production-grade Python or Go, analyzing complex agentic systems for risks, conducting adversarial testing of LLM-powered applications, and partnering with engineering teams to design secure AI architectures. You will lead deep technical risk assessments, develop reusable security patterns and tooling, and balance shipping capability quickly with the rigor required to defend against novel AI-specific threats.
Responsibilities:
- Run AI Security advisory function leading solution, agentic technology and tool security reviews with conditional approvals and practical remediation pathways.
- Deputize for Head of AI Security in cross-functional technical forums making rapid, defensible AI security calls under ambiguity.
- Partner with Architecture function on AI initiatives steering security design and providing specialist advice shaping architecture decisions.
- Lead AI security risk assessments using AI risk frameworks translating risk into actionable guidance covering prompt injection, model exploitation and agentic patterns.
- Build, integrate and operate AI security platform including MCP and LLM gateways, guardrails, secure model registry and testing automation.
- Drive continuous AI security research translating findings into same-week operational defenses for prompt injection, supply chain attacks and model poisoning.
- Lead vendor security assessments for AI tools and platforms influencing enterprise AI tool adoption decisions.
- Set technical bar for AI Security team, mentor Senior AI Security Engineers and grow AI security capability across SEEK engineering.
Skills and experience
- Extensive senior technical experience (typically 8+ years) as security, AI/ML, data science or platform engineer operating at Principal or Staff level.
- Working knowledge of AI and LLM systems including agentic patterns, MCP, RAG, model serving and AI security threat landscape.
- Experience operating as senior technical security voice in cross-functional forums making rapid decisions and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading rigorous technical assessments of complex AI systems translating findings into actionable engineering guidance.
- Strong software engineering capability with production experience in Python, Go, TypeScript or similar.
- Practical hands-on experience with LLM and agentic technology including proxies, gateways, MCP servers, prompt engineering and AI development tooling.
