Job Description
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, high-performance backend applications using Java version 17 or 21+ and above.
- Own the end-to-end SDLC, from requirements analysis and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs, backend services, middleware, enterprise applications, and system integrations.
- Apply OOP, design patterns, coding standards, and software engineering best practices to ensure high-quality solutions.
- Lead complex technical development, including database design, SQL optimisation, performance tuning, and system integration.
- Troubleshoot complex production and technical issues, driving root‑cause analysis and resolution.
- Conduct code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture reviews, while mentoring and guiding development team members.
- Drive performance optimisation, system modernisation, scalability, security, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with architects, clients, business stakeholders, product teams, and cross‑functional technical teams to deliver effective solutions.
- Lead third‑party API integrations, enterprise integrations, and middleware solutions.
- Provide technical support for production systems, including debugging, upgrades, enhancements, and incident resolution.
- Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and adoption of emerging Java and software architecture technologies.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant software development experience, with strong expertise in Java Backend Development.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Java Spring Frameworks, Spring Boot in enterprise application environments.
- Strong experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs, backend services, middleware, enterprise applications, and system integrations.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP), SOLID principles, design patterns, clean code, and software engineering best practices.
- Proven experience in application architecture, technical design, system integration, and development of scalable backend solutions.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, software architecture, development methodologies, testing practices, deployment, and post‑production support.
- Experience with third‑party API integration, enterprise system integration, and middleware solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct technical analysis, troubleshoot complex issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive effective solutions independently.
- Experience leading or providing technical guidance to development teams, including code reviews, technical discussions, design reviews, and mentoring.
- Strong understanding of application performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Experience working closely with clients, business stakeholders, product teams, architects, and cross‑functional technical teams.
Preferred / Advantageous Experience
- Experience working on Insurance, Insurtech, Financial Services, or other regulated enterprise applications.
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed backend systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD, DevOps practices, containerisation, or Kubernetes.
- Experience with event‑driven architecture, messaging systems, or asynchronous processing.
- Experience leading application modernisation, migration, or legacy system transformation initiatives.
- Experience working in large‑scale enterprise environments with complex integrations and high transaction volumes.
