About the Opportunity -

Tricon Solutions is hiring an experienced Principal Backend Engineer / Architect for an exciting product development opportunity with one of our clients building a next-generation, AI-powered enterprise finance and accounting platform.The platform integrates data from enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, billing, and HR applications, transforming complex financial and operational information into accurate, actionable, and auditable intelligence.We are looking for a highly accomplished, hands-on engineer with deep expertise in Python backend development, advanced SQL, computation-intensive systems, and configuration-driven architecture.This is an opportunity to play a key role in building a sophisticated enterprise technology product from the ground up, taking ownership of critical backend architecture, computation services, and scalable platform components.

This is not a conventional Python API development or pure architecture role. We need someone who has personally designed and developed complex calculation engines, pricing systems, billing platforms, risk analytics engines, rules-based computation frameworks, or comparable data-intensive applications.

Key Responsibilities Backend Architecture & Core Computation Services :-

• Architect, design, and develop scalable, high-performance backend services using Python.
• Build complex computation engines involving financial calculations, business rules, analytical processing, and large datasets.
• Develop reusable, modular computation components and extensible backend frameworks.
• Translate complex business requirements into efficient, maintainable computation logic.
• Design distributed systems capable of handling enterprise-scale workloads.
• Remain actively involved in hands-on Python development, coding, and technical implementation.

Advanced SQL & Data Processing :-

• Develop sophisticated SQL queries involving complex joins, window functions, aggregations, and analytical transformations.
• Design and optimize large-scale data-processing and computation workloads.
• Work with Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and other analytical data platforms.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, performance, and scalability.
• Build validation and reconciliation mechanisms for complex calculations.

Configuration-Driven Architecture :-

• Design and develop configurable, rules-based computation frameworks.
• Build reusable components that support different business scenarios through configuration.
• Develop extensible architectures that minimize custom code for new calculation requirements.
• Implement configuration runtimes and metadata-driven processing capabilities.

Correctness, Auditability & Reproducibility :-

• Ensure computation results are accurate, reproducible, and traceable to their source data.
• Design validation, reconciliation, and data-quality controls.
• Implement audit logging, data lineage, and historical result verification.
• Build robust testing frameworks for complex computation logic.
• Establish engineering practices focused on correctness, reliability, and maintainability.

Cloud-Native Architecture & Technical Leadership :-

• Architect cloud-native, distributed backend services.
• Design systems supporting multi-tenant SaaS, single-tenant SaaS, and customer-hosted deployment models.
• Work with AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Establish architectural patterns, coding standards, and technical best practices.
• Conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and guide complex technical implementations.
• Collaborate with product, data engineering, and AI/ML teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications :-

1. Strong Python Backend Engineering

10+ years of software/backend engineering experience, including significant experience in Lead, Staff, Principal Engineer, or hands-on Architect roles.

• Strong, recent, hands-on Python backend development experience.
• Experience designing and developing complex, production-grade backend systems.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, performance optimization, and scalability.
• Experience implementing complex business logic and computation-intensive services.
• Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Ability to independently own architecture while remaining actively involved in coding.

FastAPI is preferred, but strong Python engineering expertise is more important than experience with a specific framework.

2. Computation-Engine DevelopmentDemonstrated experience designing and developing complex computation-intensive systems is essential.

Relevant experience includes:

• Calculation or computation engines
• Pricing and optimization engines
• Billing and revenue calculation platforms
• Financial risk analytics systems
• Quantitative computation platforms
• Rules-based calculation engines
• Large-scale analytical processing systems

Candidates must have personally contributed to the architecture and development of the underlying computation logic.

3. Advanced SQL & Data Modeling

• Expert-level SQL development.
• Strong experience with window functions, complex joins, aggregations, and query optimization.
• Experience processing and analyzing large datasets.
• Strong relational data modeling skills.
• Ability to optimize complex SQL computations for correctness and performance.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or comparable platforms.

4. Configuration-Driven Architecture

• Experience designing reusable, extensible, configuration-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of rules engines, metadata-driven processing, or configurable computation frameworks.
• Ability to develop systems where new business rules and calculation scenarios can be introduced through configuration.
• Experience designing modular, scalable service architectures.

5. Correctness, Reproducibility & Auditability

• Experience building systems where accuracy, reliability, and consistency are critical.
• Understanding of deterministic and reproducible computation.
• Experience implementing validation, reconciliation, and data-quality controls.
• Knowledge of audit logging, data lineage, and traceable processing.
• Ability to design systems where calculation results can be verified and reproduced.

6. Principal-Level Architecture & Ownership

• Proven experience architecting complex enterprise-scale backend systems.
• Strong system design capabilities covering scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience independently owning critical architectural components.
• Ability to lead technical decisions and mentor engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on problem-solving and implementation skills.
