Principal BIM Technician
Summary
Oversee Building Information Modeling for transportation infrastructure projects, leading teams to create and coordinate detailed 3D models while enforcing BIM standards and resolving multi-disciplinary conflicts.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Principal BIM Technician specializing in Transportation to join our growing team in Bengaluru, India. In this leadership role, you will oversee Building Information Modeling initiatives for complex transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless coordination across all disciplines and delivering high-quality, organized digital models that drive project success.
- Lead the development, management, and coordination of comprehensive BIM models for transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, railways, transit systems, and related facilities
- Establish and enforce BIM standards, protocols, and best practices across project teams to ensure consistency and quality in all modeling deliverables
- Perform advanced clash detection, coordination analysis, and 3D model reviews to identify and resolve conflicts between architectural, structural, mechanical, and civil disciplines
- Mentor and supervise junior BIM technicians and CAD specialists, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development within the BIM team
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate project requirements into efficient BIM workflows and documentation strategies
- Manage BIM data, file organization, and version control systems to maintain project integrity and accessibility across all team members
- Prepare detailed BIM coordination reports, technical documentation, and model analytics to support project decision-making and stakeholder communication
- Analyze project specifications and design requirements to optimize modeling efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvement
- Coordinate with external consultants and contractors to integrate their BIM deliverables into the master project model
- Stay current with emerging BIM technologies, software updates, and industry standards relevant to transportation infrastructure projects
- 8+ years of professional experience in BIM modeling, CAD coordination, or related technical roles
- 5+ years of hands-on experience on transportation infrastructure projects (highways, railways, metro systems, bridges, or similar)
- Advanced proficiency in BIM software including Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and related modeling platforms
- Demonstrated expertise in 3D modeling, clash detection, and multi-disciplinary coordination
- Strong knowledge of BIM standards, protocols, and industry best practices (ISO 19650, LOD specifications, or equivalent)
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience with the ability to guide and develop technical teams
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex deliverables simultaneously
- Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical documentation
- Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with project management tools and platforms
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and with external stakeholders
- Knowledge of transportation infrastructure design principles, construction methodologies, and project delivery processes
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining high standards of quality and organization
