This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Clinical Data Science Lead based in United States.

This is a senior clinical data science leadership opportunity supporting end-to-end data review activities across complex clinical trials.
You will serve as a primary point of contact for internal teams, sponsors, and external partners throughout the data review lifecycle.
The role combines clinical data expertise, analytics, project leadership, and operational oversight to ensure data is accurate and fit for analysis.
You will guide data review strategies, manage timelines and budgets, and coordinate resources across multiple study activities.
Your work will directly contribute to identifying meaningful data issues that may affect patient safety or the interpretation of clinical results.
You will also influence clinical system development, risk management, audits, and data delivery strategies while mentoring colleagues and serving as a subject matter expert.
The position offers a remote or hybrid environment with an international scope and approximately 15% domestic and international travel.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and oversee clinical data science and data review activities throughout the study lifecycle, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved on time and to required quality standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding clinical data review activities and data delivery.
  • Develop and maintain planning documents covering data review, data analytics, and clinical data deliverables.
  • Perform and oversee analytical reviews focused on identifying meaningful errors and issues that could impact patient safety or interpretation of final study analyses.
  • Establish appropriate data review approaches, coordinate resources, and lead teams in executing operational and strategic study plans.
  • Forecast and manage budgets, hours, timelines, and resource requirements associated with clinical data review activities.
  • Monitor study progress and ensure clinical data science deliverables meet agreed financial, quality, and timeline expectations.
  • Provide input into clinical system development and clinical risk management activities.
  • Participate in sponsor and third-party audits and support the preparation of relevant data review documentation.
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining effective prioritization, communication, and delivery oversight.
  • Act as a mentor and subject matter expert, sharing expertise and supporting the development of clinical data science professionals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams to ensure clinical data is delivered in a high-quality, analysis-ready state.
  • Travel approximately 15% domestically and/or internationally as required.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or local equivalent in a relevant discipline; an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
    • At least 8 years of clinical data management experience within a clinical research organization or pharmaceutical company.
    • At least 2 years of experience working within a clinical research organization (CRO).
    • Comprehensive understanding of the clinical data science lifecycle and experience across the majority of major clinical data science study activities.
    • Proficiency with at least one major Clinical Data Management system, such as Rave, Inform, Oracle Clinical, OCRDC, or UX EDC.
    • Demonstrated experience in data analytics and data validation, with the ability to identify and prioritize issues that meaningfully affect clinical studies.
    • Strong project management capabilities, including experience leading and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proven experience managing study budgets, timelines, resources, and delivery expectations.
    • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Established experience as a mentor and/or subject matter expert within clinical data management or clinical data science.
    • Ability to develop structured operational strategies and lead resources toward defined study and organizational objectives.
    • Excellent written and verbal English skills, as well as fluency in the applicable host-country language.
    • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid, internationally collaborative environment.
    • Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based.
