About the Role:
As a principal consultant – business analyst in the Technology Strategy practice area, you will support practice and service delivery goals by helping improve the tools, processes, and practices that support NYSTEC’s consulting work. In this role, you will independently lead key priorities and collaborate across the organization.
Serving as a business analyst, your day-to-day as a NYSTEC consultant will be independently leading several key priorities. You will be collaborating with other practice leaders, senior principal consultants, and others throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery Technology Plan
- Lead the annual process for developing the service delivery technology plan.
- Meet with service delivery teams and leadership to identify, document, and prioritize technology needs.
- Assess current technology capabilities, gaps, pain points, and opportunities across service delivery.
- Partner with IT to assess feasibility, dependencies, security, architecture, licensing, and implementation requirements.
- Establish a process for evaluating new technology requests that emerge throughout the year.
- Track progress against the technology plan and provide periodic updates to service delivery leadership.
Building NYSTEC Consulting Tools Framework
- Establish standards for when and how consulting tools should be used and develop best practices, templates, playbooks, and practical usage guides.
- Develop and maintain training materials for service delivery technologies including use case examples showing how tools can improve common consulting activities and deliverables.
- Gather feedback from consultants and engagement teams to identify gaps and opportunities and continuously improve the framework as tools and consulting practices evolve.
- Monitor adoption and effectiveness of consulting tools.
Asana Implementation and Adoption
- Serve as the organizational lead for Asana adoption and enablement, defining and promoting standard practices that improve consistency in project planning, task management, status reporting, and portfolio visibility.
- Lead onboarding, training, troubleshooting, and ongoing coaching for new and existing Asana users.
- Monitor adoption and usage, identify barriers, and implement targeted strategies to support teams and strengthen engagement.
- Identify and pilot new Asana use cases that improve project and work-management practices.
- Gather user feedback and translate it into continuous improvements to Asana configuration, training, standards, and supporting resources.
- Partner with organizational stakeholders to mature NYSTEC’s project management practices through Asana.
About You:
Required Qualifications
- Experience developing technology plans, roadmaps, or strategic initiatives based on organizational business needs.
- Experience implementing, administering, or driving adoption of enterprise work-management or project-management platforms.
- Experience developing organizational standards, processes, best practices, templates, playbooks, or governance frameworks.
- Ability to translate business and consulting needs into practical technology solutions and requirements.
- Ability to facilitate discussions with stakeholders, elicit requirements, establish priorities, and build consensus across teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively with IT teams on areas such as technology evaluation, implementation planning, security, integration, licensing, and support.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, consultants, project managers, and organizational leadership.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of initiatives from initial concept through implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a business, technical, scientific, or related discipline.
- Experience and familiarity with various consulting software and/or NYSTEC technology.
- Experience developing standardized Asana workflows, training users, and supporting adoption across teams.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business management, project management with at least eight years of relevant experience in technology strategy, project/program management, business analysis, technology enablement, or a related discipline.
- An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
The target base salary for this position is $109,639.00 to $145,271.00 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
