Principal Embedded Firmware Engineer (Medical Devices)
This role owns the design and delivery of embedded firmware for a complex, safety-critical medical device. You will lead firmware architecture, development, verification, and regulatory-ready documentation from concept through clinical use. You will work hands-on with bare-metal and RTO-based systems, collaborating closely with hardware, systems, and clinical teams in an on-site engineering environment Client Details A privately backed medical technology company developing innovative devices to address critical cardiovascular conditions. * 15+ years of hands-on embedded firmware development experience * Expert-level C/C++ programming for embedded systems (non-negotiable) * Proven experience delivering firmware for regulated products (medical devices strongly preferred; IEC 62304 experience required) * Strong, practical experience with bare?metal firmware and at least one RTOS (e.g. FreeRTOS, ThreadX, QNX) * Deep understanding of microcontrollers, hardware interfaces, and protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB; wireless experience highly valued)
