Summary

Leads the design and development of electrical and electro-mechanical systems for oil & gas well completion products, ensuring reliability and compliance with industry standards.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of electrical and electro-mechanical systems for Well Completion Products (WCP). This senior technical leadership role is responsible for driving innovation, developing robust electrical architectures, and ensuring products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, safety, and performance. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across the entire product development lifecycle, from concept and design through qualification, manufacturing, and deployment.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead advanced engineering initiatives in the Oil & Gas industry while working on next-generation downhole technologies, mentoring engineering teams, and collaborating with global cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and qualification of electrical and electro-mechanical systems for Well Completion Products.
  • Develop electrical architectures, circuit designs, power management systems, sensor integration, and communication interfaces for downhole and surface equipment.
  • Interpret customer specifications, engineering requirements, and applicable API, ISO, IEC, and IEEE standards.
  • Drive innovation by developing advanced electrical solutions for high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT), EMI, vibration, and harsh downhole environments.
  • Lead project planning, electrical design, prototyping, testing, qualification, and production release activities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, electrical risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for new technologies and product enhancements.
  • Utilize schematic capture, PCB design, simulation, and engineering analysis tools to develop and validate designs.
  • Identify electrical failure modes and implement robust design improvements based on testing and field performance.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, and technical best practices.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and HSE teams to ensure successful product integration and delivery.
  • Support design reviews, technical gate approvals, supplier qualification, and component selection activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including schematics, calculations, qualification reports, and engineering change records.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers while promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout all engineering activities.

Skills

  • Expertise in electrical and electronic system design, PCB development, embedded systems, and system integration.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design tools, simulation software, and engineering analysis techniques.
  • Experience with downhole electronics, sensors, controls, telemetry, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Advanced understanding of API, ISO, IEC, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and technical leadership skills.
  • Experience conducting electrical risk assessments, failure analysis, and product validation.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Innovation mindset with strong research and technology development capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in electrical or electronic product design and engineering leadership.
  • Proven experience leading complex product development projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Experience within Oil & Gas, preferably Well Completion Products, downhole electronics, or related technologies.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is preferred.
  • Participation in technical societies, standards committees, or industry publications is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10–25%) as required.
