Principal Engineer - HV Cable

Summary

Principal Engineer designs and manages high-voltage cable systems for power transmission projects, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards while coordinating with clients and teams in the Middle East.

WSP ME team has ambitions to significantly expand our energy team. We are seeking a Technical Expert with core expertise in HV Cable design domain with proven experience on HV Cables while working on Power Transmission & Distribution Projects. WSP is hiring an Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for use in HVAC and Desirable - HVDC projects both onshore and offshore; including HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP). The incumbent will be managing cable engineering deliverables, enable timely and quality delivery of projects and act as the front face to our key clients in Middle East.

Role relating to Principal Engineer– HV Cable for Power Transmission & Distribution projects.

This includes (but not limited to):

  • Assisting the leadership technically for the successful delivery of multi discipline projects.

  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client, ensuring that relevant Health and Safety risks are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed.

  • Actively developing external and internal client relationships.

  • Providing technical management coordination of any subcontractors and resources remote from the core project team.

  • Ensuring that technical risks are identified and mitigated.

  • Ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Actively taking part in Industry working groups such as CIGRE, IEEE.

  • Actively developing external and internal relationships

  • Delivery of accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications, and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.

  • Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.

  • Resolving site queries during the construction phase of projects.

  • Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to substation design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information.

  • Making and maintaining appropriate commitments to project teams and coordinating design activities with multi-disciplined project team members.

  • Collaborate with WSP offices and GCC team for successful delivery of the PT&D projects.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.

  • Ability to lead the projects and deal the client with hands on experience in project management processes/activities.

  • Willingness to visit client offices/project sites in ME as and when required.
