Principal Engineer - Security Logging & Detection

You will lead the architecture and engineering of security logging and telemetry platforms, design and improve logging pipelines, manage telemetry collection and processing, ensure log reliability and availability, drive automation, improve detection capabilities, define technical standards, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of Security Logging and Detection capabilities
• Design and improve logging pipelines and telemetry services
• Manage collection, parsing, normalization, enrichment, routing, retention and access for security telemetry
• Ensure log reliability, integrity and availability
• Drive automation and engineering best practices
• Use AI-enabled technologies to improve security workflows and telemetry analysis
• Partner with security and engineering teams to improve telemetry coverage and detection capabilities
• Define technical standards, documentation and operational processes
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Extensive experience in Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, Logging, Observability or Detection Engineering
• Strong understanding of security logging architectures and telemetry pipelines
• Experience building, operating and scaling distributed systems or enterprise data pipelines
• Experience working with Security Operations, Threat Detection, Incident Response or Security Analytics teams
• Strong technical leadership skills
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and observability platforms is a plus
• Security, Cloud or Software Engineering certifications are a plus
