Most Identity Architecture roles focus on delivering projects.

This one is about shaping the future direction of Identity for an entire organisation.

A large and well-established financial institution is looking for a Principal Identity Architect to help define the next chapter of its Identity and Access Management capability.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of architecture, engineering, security, and strategy. You will have the mandate to influence enterprise-wide decisions, establish architecture standards, guide major identity initiatives, and partner with senior technology leaders to solve complex challenges across a large and evolving environment.

Why This Role Is Different This is not a platform specialist role.

They are not looking for someone who only knows SailPoint, CyberArk, Okta, or Microsoft Identity. They are looking for someone with broad Identity and Access Management experience who understands how all the moving parts fit together and can provide strategic direction across the enterprise.

You will be joining a highly regarded technology leadership team where your expertise will be valued and your opinion sought on some of the organisation's most important security and technology decisions.

The Opportunity As the most senior Identity Architecture specialist in the organisation, you will:

• Define the future Identity and Access Management vision and roadmap
• Influence key technology and security decisions across the enterprise
• Guide major IAM, PAM, governance, and modernisation initiatives
• Establish architecture principles, engineering standards, and best practices
• Partner closely with Engineering, Security, Architecture, Delivery, and Product leaders
• Help solve complex technical challenges that impact multiple teams and business units
• Act as a trusted advisor across Technology and Security leadership

This is a hands-on strategic role where you will balance architecture leadership with practical problem solving.

What We're Looking For We would love to speak with people who bring:

• 10+ years of Identity and Access Management experience
• Proven experience as a Principal, Lead, Enterprise, or Senior Identity Architect
• Deep expertise across multiple identity platforms including:
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Okta
  • SailPoint
  • CyberArk
• Strong understanding of Identity Governance, Privileged Access Management, Authentication, Authorisation, and Enterprise Identity Strategy
• Exposure to DevOps and DevSecOps environments
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Experience operating within large, complex enterprise environments

Financial Services experience would be beneficial but is not essential. Strong candidates from other large enterprise environments are encouraged to apply.

Genuine Flexibility Let's be honest. Flexible hybrid roles at this level are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Whilst the team has a weekly anchor day, there is no rigid expectation to be in the office 3 days per week.

The organisation genuinely focuses on outcomes rather than presenteeism. Most team members typically attend the office 1 to 2 days per week, with significant flexibility available around working arrangements.
