Overview
An experienced Principal (Lead) Piping Engineer is required to lead piping engineering activities across onshore and offshore brownfield projects. This role focuses on FEED and detailed design, providing technical leadership and ensuring high-quality delivery within a 3D design environment.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
Lead piping engineering activities across FEED and detailed design phases
Provide technical direction and mentorship to the piping engineering team
Ensure delivery of high-quality engineering outputs aligned with project requirements
Design & Technical Oversight
Oversee piping layout, routing, material selection, and stress analysis
Review and approve engineering deliverables, including 3D models
Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (e.g. ASME, API)
Project Coordination
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, structural, and instrumentation
Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues
Support constructability reviews, site queries, and commissioning activities
Project Delivery
Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
Support brownfield modifications, tie-ins, and integration into existing facilities
Maintain compliance with HSE requirements and company procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
Minimum 18+ years of experience in piping engineering
Strong experience in onshore and offshore brownfield projects
Proven track record in FEED and detailed design
Previous experience in a Lead or Principal role preferred
Experience with EPC contractors or major oil & gas operators is advantageous
Technical & Professional Skills
Proficiency in 3D design tools such as E3D, PDMS, or SP3D
Strong knowledge of international piping codes and standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage complex engineering scopes and multiple interfaces
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
