Role description\:

As a member of the Maintenance Management team, the role is responsible for undertaking complex analysis on work package performance following each maintenance period, analysing maintenance costs and defect trend/prediction across the Class and using investigative outputs to inform support organisations of future resource and spare part requirements. This will allow you to produce fully optimised Maintenance work-packages for allocated platform using RCM methodology and improved condition monitoring / material state knowledge.

Core Duties\:

  • You will undertake continuous Material State Assessment for designated platform / systems, undertaking impact analysis and providing oversight to the Maintenance Manager
  • You will be presenting weekly performance summary to the Maintenance Manager
  • You will produce well written and explicit work packages which can be readily planned and estimated by the delivery teams
  • You will monitor work package progress against the baseline schedule, ensuring all work is closed out in a safe and legal manner whilst identifying opportunities for maintenance optimisation, and capturing LfE accordingly

Essential skills\:

  • You will hold ONC/HNC/HND/Degree level education in an engineering discipline or equivalent working experience
  • You will bring specialist engineering knowledge and experience in a subject area, to this role
  • You will have working knowledge of the engineering lifecycle
  • You will be aware of and adhere to statutory regulations (including those of Information Systems, Safety Health & Environment and Security Requirements)

The Maintenance Management team\:

As a Principal Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for producing optimised work packages using scheduled information extracted from the Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) database and undertaking detailed root cause analysis of material state and failure trends, to enable work packages to be optimised.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with various stakeholders both internally and externally. There will be opportunities for wider development within BAE Systems.
