Principal MEP Advisor & Design Authority
Description
Qualifications and Requirements
If your experience doesn't match every preferred qualification below but you know this work, we encourage you to apply.
Required
- Significant experience (typically 12+ years) in data center / mission-critical facilities, with direct accountability for major phases of new-build data center projects (design, design review, construction oversight, or commissioning). Data center-specific experience is required; general commercial construction alone does not qualify.
- Expert-level command of liquid cooling for high-density environments (direct-to-chip and rear-door, CDUs, coolant distribution, and the controls and telemetry around them), with strong working fluency across electrical/power distribution, floor planning, and fire suppression.
- Ability to read, review, and red-line MEP designs and one-line diagrams, and to find the flaw in a cooling schematic or power design personally.
- Experience qualifying and overseeing trade partners (MEP subcontractors, engineering firms, commissioning agents), and advising senior stakeholders in a consulting, advisory, owner's-representative, or owner-side capacity.
- Working knowledge of high-density AI/HPC facility requirements, including liquid cooling and high-density power distribution at 60-150 kW per rack and beyond.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional, military, or trade experience.
- Recent, direct experience on liquid-cooled, high-density (60 kW+ per rack) designs, ideally NVL72-class deployments.
- Electrical/power depth as a second discipline alongside cooling.
- Experience across multiple international code jurisdictions (US and APAC).
- Familiarity with commissioning levels (L1-L5) and construction-lifecycle quality assurance.
- Credentials such as PE license, Uptime Institute ATD/ATS, DCEP, CDCDP, or ASHRAE participation.
- Demonstrated success standing up a team, practice, or program.
Travel: Up to 30%, including international.
