Job Description – Principal OpenShift GitOps &
Virtualisation Architect
Location: Dublin 18 (2 days onsite per week)
Duration: Until the end of the year, likely to be
extended
Summary of this role: This resource will own the automation, governance and
platform lifecycle architecture for the OpenShift estate. They will be
responsible for defining how OpenShift Container Platform and OpenShift
Virtualisation environments are deployed, governed, upgraded and operated at
scale using Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM), OpenShift GitOps and
Argo CD.
A key responsibility will be reviewing and
maturing an existing GitOps implementation, assessing current approaches and
helping define the future-state operating model for both container and virtual
machine platforms. The role will also help shape VMware-to-OpenShift
Virtualisation migration patterns and application modernisation strategies,
including the containerisation of suitable workloads.
This is a hands-on architecture role. The
successful candidate must be capable of defining standards, producing
architecture deliverables, guiding implementation teams and providing technical
leadership across GitOps, OpenShift Virtualisation, multi-cluster governance
and platform automation.
Skillset
and background:
- 10+ years of
platform engineering, automation or infrastructure architecture experience
- 5+ years of hands-on
OpenShift experience
- Expert-level
experience with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM)
- Expert-level
experience with Argo CD and OpenShift GitOps
- Strong experience
designing and operating multi-cluster OpenShift environments
- Experience
reviewing, rationalising and maturing GitOps implementations in large
enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on
experience with OpenShift Virtualisation and KubeVirt
- Experience designing
and operating OpenShift Virtualisation platforms for enterprise VM
workloads
- Experience defining
VMware-to-OpenShift Virtualisation migration strategies and operating
models
- Experience assessing
application estates for containerisation and defining modernisation
pathways
- Strong understanding
of GitOps governance, Policy-as-Code and platform lifecycle management
- Experience designing
disaster recovery and recovery orchestration models for OpenShift
platforms
- Ability to produce
High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), standards and
reference architectures
- Strong stakeholder
management and technical leadership skills
- Red Hat OpenShift,
ACM, GitOps or OpenShift Virtualisation certifications would be
advantageous

- Establish VMware
migration and application modernisation onboarding patterns

governance, disaster recovery and operational resilience standards

HLDs, LLDs, standards and reference architectures
- Provide technical
leadership and mentoring to platform engineering and delivery teams
