Position overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Pipeline Engineer - Onshore to lead and support pipeline design activities across all project phases including Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design within the oil & gas sector. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and hands-on design experience from reputable engineering consultancies.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver onshore pipeline engineering design activities in line with project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Perform and oversee engineering work during Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
  • Carry out and review pipeline design calculations including:
    • Wall thickness design
    • Buoyancy calculations
    • Upheaval buckling analysis
  • Conduct stress analysis using CAESAR II software.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, and process engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and client meetings as required.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Pipeline Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Master's degree is an advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 17+ years of experience in pipeline design engineering within the oil & gas industry.
  • At least 10 years of experience in onshore pipeline projects.
  • Proven experience working with leading engineering consultancies or similar.
  • Strong experience across Detailed Design, FEED, and Pre-FEED phases.
  • Proficiency in:
    • CAESAR II for pipeline stress analysis
    • Engineering tools such as Excel and Mathcad for design calculations
  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline engineering principles, codes, and standards.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering tasks independently.
  • Experience working in the Middle East region is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
