Position overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Pipeline Engineer - Onshore to lead and support pipeline design activities across all project phases including Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design within the oil & gas sector. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and hands-on design experience from reputable engineering consultancies.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver onshore pipeline engineering design activities in line with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Perform and oversee engineering work during Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
- Carry out and review pipeline design calculations including:
- Wall thickness design
- Buoyancy calculations
- Upheaval buckling analysis
- Conduct stress analysis using CAESAR II software.
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, and process engineering.
- Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and client meetings as required.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Pipeline Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
- Master's degree is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 17+ years of experience in pipeline design engineering within the oil & gas industry.
- At least 10 years of experience in onshore pipeline projects.
- Proven experience working with leading engineering consultancies or similar.
- Strong experience across Detailed Design, FEED, and Pre-FEED phases.
- Proficiency in:
- CAESAR II for pipeline stress analysis
- Engineering tools such as Excel and Mathcad for design calculations
- In-depth knowledge of pipeline engineering principles, codes, and standards.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering tasks independently.
- Experience working in the Middle East region is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
