Principal Sales Engineer
You will work side by side with the sales team on engaging customer-focused meetings, demonstrations, and proof of concepts that show the business and technical value customers will receive. You will exercise deep technical and consultative skills throughout all pre-sales phases, working with everyone from C-level executives to developers. You will rapidly understand customer technical needs, connect them to business initiatives, and deliver insightful solutions. You will travel 20-30%, mostly within the UK with occasional EMEA travel.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and deliver conceptual solution demonstrations and presentations
- Provide technical and product guidance to customers, partners, and the team
- Deliver hands-on proof of concepts
- Respond to RfXs
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Support to provide deep technical expertise
- Lead or assist team members in building demos of solutions and platform capabilities
- Help team members across regions to ensure company success
- Guarantee continuous handover between pre-sales and post-sales phases
- Act as pre-sales lead for prospect opportunities to convert prospects into customers
- Travel 20-30%, mostly within the UK with occasional EMEA travel
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in a solution pre-sales role
- Expertise working with Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions in or with enterprise organizations
- Working knowledge of IAM protocols and formats such as OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, LDAP, JSON, XML, SQL
- Experience with installation and configuration of IAM technologies from Ping Identity, CA, Oracle, IBM, Novell/NetIQ/Microfocus, or similar
- Experience acting as a recognized leader supporting the extended Sales Engineering team
- Commercial consultative skills with ability to interface with architects, developers, managers, CTO, and engineering
- Ability to work with a high level of self-direction and collaboratively
- Competency with scripting languages (JavaScript, Groovy), RESTful Web Services, and web frameworks such as Node.js and Vue.js
- Ability to independently run a Proof of Concept to successful completion
- Ability to lead meetings across personas including C-Level, business owners, architects, and developers
- Experience developing and delivering technical presentations, workshops, customized demonstrations, and proof of concepts
- Knowledge of general networking concepts such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S, routing, load balancers, proxies
- Experience with cloud platforms AWS, GCP, or Azure
