Principal Software Architect
Summary
The Principal Software Architect will define architectural principles and target-state designs for a complex, multi-system platform. This role involves guiding engineering teams on scalability, security, and modernization while partnering with leadership to drive strategic technical decisions.
Salary: £100,000 - 120,000 per year
Requirements:- Proven experience defining architecture across SaaS, product-led or platform-based environments
- Experience working across complex, multi-system or distributed technology landscapes
- Strong understanding of API design, integration architecture and service-oriented systems
- Cloud architecture experience, ideally within Azure
- Strong appreciation for security-by-design, resilience, scalability and operational excellence
- Comfortable influencing technical direction without formal management responsibility
- Experience leading platform consolidation or large-scale modernisation programmes is highly advantageous
- Define architectural principles, standards and target-state designs across our platform
- Drive platform consolidation and reduce duplication across systems
- Define service boundaries, ownership models and integration patterns
- Review significant technical initiatives and provide architectural guidance across multiple engineering teams
- Embed security, resilience, scalability and observability into platform design from the outset
- Identify architectural risk, technical debt and platform constraints
- Partner with Engineering and Product leadership on strategic technical decisions

We are hiring for a Principal Architect to help shape the future of a broad, complex technology platform spanning multiple systems, services, integrations and data capabilities. This is a genuine platform-level architecture role focused on guiding the evolution of our wider technology landscape, with a strong emphasis on consistency, scalability and maintainability. The role is based in Uxbridge, Greater West London, with hybrid working and two days onsite per week. We offer a salary of £100,000 to £120,000 plus benefits. You will work closely with senior engineering and product leaders and report to the CTO, with the opportunity to make a lasting impact across the organisation.
