Principal Software Engineer – Galway (Hybrid, Contract)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Software Engineer to join our technology team in Galway, Ireland. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-value products that support customers with innovative financial solutions. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable taking ownership, leading technical discussions, and mentoring others in a collaborative environment.

Stamp4 or EU passport required

Location & Work Model

• Galway, Ireland
• Hybrid (3 weeks from home, 1 week in the office in Galway)
• 12-month contract (potential extension)

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST API Microservices, Kubernetes, AWS, Lambda
• Hands-on technical leadership experience, leading and mentoring Scrum teams
• Strong knowledge of UI frameworks (Angular, React, JavaScript, Bootstrap or similar)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, etc.) and Agile development practices
• Proven ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across architecture and business partners

The Role

• Lead and mentor software engineers, ensuring delivery of robust, resilient, and stable systems
• Drive full-stack design and development of innovative technical solutions
• Deliver high-quality code with strong test coverage following industry standards and methodologies
• Collaborate across multi-functional teams (engineering, QA, analysts, business partners) to achieve project objectives
• Share knowledge across teams and contribute to technical strategy and best practices
