Principal Software Engineer
Summary
Principal engineer leading AI-first backend architecture with Python/FastAPI and AWS serverless, while designing agentic workflows and mentoring teams.
Responsibilities
- Shape long-term technical strategy and architecture across products and platforms
- Lead complex, cross-team initiatives from design through production
- Establish engineering standards, architectural patterns, and best practices
- Own the reliability, maintainability, and evolution of critical production systems
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical capabilities of the organization
- Design and improve AI agents, engineering workflows, and automation to create organizational leverage
- Evaluate AI-generated designs, code, tests, and documentation to ensure quality
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building backend applications with Python and FastAPI or similar frameworks
- 5+ years architecting, deploying, and operating cloud-native applications using AWS serverless technologies
- Expert knowledge of designing and implementing REST APIs and distributed microservice architectures
- Demonstrated experience defining technical direction across multiple engineering teams
- Proven experience working in an AI-first engineering environment using AI agents for development
- Experience designing, building, and integrating AI agents or agentic workflows
- Experience developing front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Angular
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering, tool orchestration, and context management
- Experience with infrastructure automation and modern DevOps practices
- Ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders including executive leadership
