Principal Solutions Architect, Global Defense Partners (Seattle)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Principal Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing Global Defense Partners business.

As a Principal Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to advance our customer’s mission through the use of AWS services (e.g. Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, HPC, Amazon Bedrock, etc.) directly with our ecosystem of systems integrators, consulting and technology partners. You will accomplish this as part of a cross‑functional team working together in support of federal missions, building proof of concepts (PoCs) to solve customer problems.

The Solutions Architects on our team provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the Federal Government markets while working with sales and business development teams. They lead efforts to capture and share best‑practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community, collaborating with and educating some of the brightest technical minds in the industry across enterprise architecture.

This position requires that the selected candidate be a U.S. citizen and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.

Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data and analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or an equivalent field.
  • Experience developing technology solutions and evangelising end‑to‑end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing.
  • Experience communicating across technical and non‑technical audiences at C‑level, including training, workshops, and publications.
  • Current, active U.S. Government security clearance of Top Secret or above.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of large‑scale automation and workflow management or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of database design and implementation or equivalent.
  • Strong presentation and white‑boarding skills and comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
  • Experience architecting, migrating, transforming, or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.
  • Familiarity with defense compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, CMMC, DoD SRG, ITAR).
Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $182,800 – $247,300 annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
