Principal, Strategy & Business Operations
About Intuit
Intuit is a mission-driven, global financial platform company that gives everyone the opportunity to prosper. We do this by using technology to solve our customers' most important problems: putting more money in their pockets, eliminating unnecessary work and complexity, and helping them make financial decisions with confidence. Our flagship products, QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Credit Karma, reflect our commitment to transforming how people manage their finances, run small businesses, and pay employees. Intuit is a trusted partner to millions of small businesses and consumers, with a presence that is both broad and deeply rooted.
Who We Serve
Small businesses are the engine of the economy. In the U.S. they employ 60% of the workforce and create 80% of new jobs, yet most face long odds. QuickBooks exists to change those odds, giving small businesses the tools and confidence to manage their money, run their operations, and grow. It is Intuit's largest, most established business, and one of its fastest moving.
About the Role
Business Strategy and Operations (Biz Ops) exists to help define where we're going and help our teams focus on and execute against the most important work for QuickBooks. We do that in several ways: (1) shaping the strategy and vision for where we are going and what we want to achieve, (2) driving the rigor behind how we plan, (3) quarterbacking the highest impact work streams that cut across segments and functions, (4) building the operating systems that hold us accountable to what we said we would do, and (5) finding the next big bets before anyone else does.
We are hiring a Principal who can operate as both a senior strategic advisor and a hands-on builder: someone who can identify where QuickBooks should go next, shape that point of view with senior leadership, and personally drive the work that turns it into durable growth. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Director of Strategy & Business Operations, QuickBooks Small Business and Platform, with the scope and visibility of someone operating at the center of the business: serving as a critical partner to our VPs of Product, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Customer Success & Delivery, and becoming the person senior leaders come to for advice, fast clarity, and an unvarnished read on where things really stand.
This is a role for someone who wants to own outcomes, not just coordinate work. You will structure ambiguous problems, establish priorities, and personally engage in the most complex and high-impact work, whether that means uncovering the next growth vector before anyone else sees it, figuring out where AI can meaningfully change how QuickBooks serves small businesses, or building the operating system that turns a bold idea into a shipped outcome.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Strategy: shape where QuickBooks goes next, including our push to become small businesses' trusted financial intelligence layer and win the race to AI-native, done-for-you experiences, and translate that point of view into structured analysis, recommendations, and decision options for senior leadership and CEOlevel business reviews.
- Execution: quarterback high-impact growth or improvement work streams that span multiple segments, teams, functions, or the broader company, removing blockers and driving the work from framing to landed outcome.
- Accountability: build an AI-native operating system, applying AI to how we understand and monitor the business, from performance and product engagement to customer feedback and execution status, and turn that synthesis into the narratives that power our business reviews, leadership forums, and executive updates, so leadership's attention stays on the handful of decisions that matter most.
- Growth Acceleration: identify, champion, and operationalize net new high-impact growth initiatives, across areas like our core QuickBooks experience and our accountant ecosystem, that create material value for small business customers, facilitating everything from one-off strategic deep dives to a sequence of highstakes decisions.
How You'll Show Up
- Cutting through the noise simplifying the complex and ambiguous into a clear point of view, sequencing decisions so leadership always knows what matters most right now, and keeping teams focused on the few things that actually move the business.
- Advising senior leadership on the choices that matter most, with the judgment to know when to push and when to listen.
- Leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from an ambiguous problem to a shipped outcome, across Product, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Customer Success & Delivery.
- Personally producing the analysis and recommendations when the work is too sensitive, ambiguous, or strategically important to hand off.
Qualifications
- 8 to 12+ years of experience in business strategy, business operations, strategic planning, management consulting, corporate development, or a related field, ideally within a high growth or matrixed environment.
- Experience directly advising senior executives and supporting complex, high-stakes business decisions.
- Proven ability to synthesize large volumes of complex, sometimes messy information into clear insights and recommendations leaders can act on.
- Strong business judgment, with an intuitive grasp of how strategy, operations, financial performance, and execution connect.
- Experience designing or improving executive operating rhythms, planning processes, or performance management systems.
- Ability to cut through ambiguity and complexity into a clear point of view, challenge constructively, and establish structure and sequence where little currently exists.
- Executive level written and verbal communication. You can walk into a room with a VP and leave with a decision.
- Genuine curiosity about small businesses and how QuickBooks can make their lives easier. This work only matters if you care who it is for.
- FinTech, SaaS, or small business software experience is a plus, not a requirement
