Principal Technical Architect (Platform Architecture)
Description
- 14+ years in product engineering, with strong experience designing and building scalable enterprise SaaS platforms.
- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot based enterprise application development.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and cloud-native design principles.
- Proven experience designing and building microservices-based platforms.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven systems; Kafka or other streaming/event platforms.
- Strong understanding of performance tuning, scalability, caching, and resiliency patterns.
- AWS (primary, expert level): EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, Transit Gateway,
- Route 53, ALB/NLB, CloudFront, API Gateway, KMS, Secrets Manager, and Organizations/Control Tower.
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK) and GitOps-style delivery for containers and Kubernetes.
- Good to have: hands-on or working knowledge of Azure (VNet, AKS, Entra ID, Azure Monitor, Defender for Cloud) and exposure to GCP or other cloud platforms, for portability, customer-driven deployments, and multi-cloud design.
- Network topology: multi-account and multi-VPC design, hub-and-spoke or Transit Gateway, hybrid connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect), DNS, load balancing, CDN and WAF, PrivateLink, service mesh, and zero-trust networking.
- Cloud and application security: IAM and least-privilege design, encryption and key management, tenant isolation, secrets management, threat modeling, OWASP/ASVS, secure SDLC tooling, and compliance in regulated settings (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Cost and capacity management: FinOps practices, unit-cost modeling, tagging and allocation, commitment-based discounts, capacity forecasting, load testing, and autoscaling design.
- Observability and reliability: logs, metrics, and traces with OpenTelemetry or equivalent; SLI/SLO and error-budget practices; DR and multi-AZ/multi-region design with defined RTO and RPO; incident management and chaos testing.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and related concepts.
- Proven experience leading large-scale product engineering initiatives.
- Strong architectural decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to document and defend trade- offs (e.g., through architecture decision records).
- Ability to influence teams across organizational boundaries.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including with security, finance, and executive audiences.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced and evolving product environments.
