Principal Test & Quality Platform Architect
About the Role
We're seeking a Principal Test & Quality Architect to help evolve how Oracle Database validates quality by bringing the voice of the customer directly into our engineering processes.
This role serves as the bridge between customers, Sustaining Engineering, and Quality Engineering to understand how Oracle Database is deployed and used in production. Using these insights, you'll shape testing priorities, improve coverage of real-world workloads, and guide the evolution of our testing platforms, tools, and practices.
The ideal candidate brings deep Oracle RDBMS expertise, understands enterprise database architectures, and can translate real customer deployment patterns into high-value quality initiatives that improve reliability, scalability, availability, and performance.
What You'll Do
- Become the subject matter expert on how customers deploy, operate, and scale Oracle Database across enterprise environments.
- Establish customer engagement mechanisms, including customer advisory forums, internal working groups, and data-driven feedback channels, to continuously capture deployment patterns, operational pain points, and emerging workloads.
- Analyze customer telemetry, support trends, benchmark workloads, and field feedback to identify testing gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Translate customer usage patterns into enhanced functional, stress, performance, and reliability testing strategies.
- Drive Oracle Database-specific testing approaches that accurately represent customer deployments across on-premises, OCI, and hybrid environments.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and improve testing tools and processes while minimizing disruption to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve observability, workload modeling, environment stability, and overall test effectiveness.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted testing capabilities, where they provide measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, or productivity.
Key Responsibilities

Quality Engineering Enablement
- Improve workload modeling, test data strategies, environment consistency, and observability.
- Define meaningful quality metrics and reporting dashboards.
Share best practices through playbooks, architecture reviews, and technical mentoring.
Innovation
- Evaluate AI and machine learning capabilities that can improve test generation, failure analysis, workload selection, and defect triage.
- Recommend practical adoption based on demonstrated business value rather than technology-first initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 10–15 years of experience in software quality engineering, database engineering, software architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
- Deep expertise with Oracle Database technologies and enterprise database deployments.
- Strong understanding of Oracle Database customer environments, operational practices, and enterprise workloads.
- Experience designing or leading functional, performance, scalability, stress, and reliability testing for enterprise software.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into engineering priorities.
- Experience collaborating across Development, Quality Engineering, Sustaining Engineering, and customer-facing organizations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and executive presentation skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends from customer data, telemetry, and support feedback.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Oracle Database internals and enterprise technologies such as RAC, Data Guard, Multitenant, ASM, Exadata, GoldenGate, and OCI Database Services.
- Experience analyzing customer telemetry, support data, benchmark workloads, or production performance trends.
