Summary: Applies engineering techniques to assist in the improvement of manufacturing processes and products

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies engineering, science, and business skills to carry out core functions in the thermal purification, manufacture, and processing of products.
  • Collects, interprets, and analyzes data to author reports and make recommendations to justify process improvement and capital projects.
  • Assess production processes through the interpretation of data.
  • Participate and lead PHA, FMLA, 8D, and other root cause methodologies.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and potential solutions
  • Provide technical support to production operations.
  • Develop and implement process control strategies.
  • Leads implementation of process changes to reduce the production costs
  • Participate in the development of new products and processes from concept to commercialization.
  • Conduct scale-up studies and pilot plant operations.
  • Conduct safety assessments and implement safety measures.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Ensure P&IDs align with process requirements and safety standards.
  • Lead or participate in process improvement projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Interface with AGV1 Project to prepare for commissioning
  • Principle team member of start-up team
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in a related field
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • Experience with CAD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) preferred
  • Experience in Safety, Health, Environmental task and operations review
  • Process control exposure preferred
  • Experience in process development and optimization within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in P&ID development and interpretation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Process control logic understanding.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate and develop respectful and trusting relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • “Can do” attitude. Desire to learn and self-develop.
  • Result driven. “Owns their work”. Detail-oriented.
  • Willing to combine field work with office work.
  • Experience in Safety, Health, Environmental projects.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies- preferred.

Work Environment:

This individual works in a multi-level industrial environment requiring work in high precarious places via ladders and steps inside and outside the plant in all types of weather conditions. This individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and some hazardous chemicals. The plant utilizes high levels of electricity and individuals have to be safety minded in all activities.

Moderate - Industrial noise levels characteristic of moving mechanical equipment
