Process Engineer

Job Summary:
A Process Engineer is a professional who serves as a bridge between business needs and technology solutions. They collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical specifications for IT teams. Process Engineer’s play a crucial role in evaluating existing systems, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing new technologies to enhance operational efficiency. They are involved in system design, testing, and user training, ensuring that technological solutions align with organizational goals. By optimizing business processes through technology, Process Engineer’s contribute to the overall success of an organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering and Analysis

Engage with stakeholders (business users, managers, customers) to understand business needs.
Document functional and non-functional requirements, basic data requirements, user stories, reports, and business rules.
Conduct interviews, workshops, and observations to gather detailed information.

Process Modeling and Improvement

Analyze current business processes (as-is) and proposed future state.
Identify inefficiencies, gaps, or bottlenecks.
Design improved processes (to-be), often using tools like flowcharts, BPMN, or UML diagrams.

Liaison Between Business and IT

Translate business requirements into technical specifications for developers and IT teams.
Ensure solutions align with business goals and add value.
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences in a timely fashion.

Solution Assessment and Validation

Collaborate with QA/test teams to develop test plans and ensure systems meet requirements.
Write up test cases that fit business needs and the Traceability Matrix that follows the test cases.
Assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and system setup requirements such as BDRs and user roles/profiles.

Verify and validate the implemented solution against requirements.

Documentation and Communication

Create clear and concise documentation: business requirement documents

(BRD/SRS), flow charts, user guides/manuals, basic data requirements, and test cases (with Traceability Matrix).

Provide timely updates and reports to any stakeholders and/or managers.
Maintain project documentation and version control.
Document per guidelines and standards of the project in detail.

Project Support

Support project managers with timelines, status updates, task breakdown, SCRUM calls, and prioritization.
Help identify project risks, blockers, and dependencies.
Support change management and positive communications with end users with systems.
Providing training materials as well as training sessions for end-users whenever necessary.
Assist in system Post Go-Live activities such as reporting bugs, providing additional training, end user assistance, any stop gap solutions, and any critical system solutions.

Technical Skills Required:
Minimum 2-3 years of Business Analyst or Process Engineer experience.

Understanding of SDLC (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
System architecture basics
Jira, DevOps, Confluence, Trello (for project/task tracking)
Microsoft Visio or Lucid chart (for diagramming)
Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
ERP/CRM systems knowledge (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce)
Understanding of financial processes, supply chain, manufacturing, etc., depending on the domain concentration
