Process Engineer
Roles &Responsibilities:
To lead and support process engineering, proposal development, project execution and commissioning of industrial water, wastewater treatment and water reuse systems, including:
- Lead process design and optimization of industrial water, wastewater treatment and reuse systems, including physical-chemical, biological, DAF, membrane filtration/RO, oxidation/AOP and sludge handling processes.
- Perform and review mass and hydraulic balances, process calculations, equipment sizing, chemical dosing, aeration/blower requirements, membrane projections and utility requirements; prepare Process Design Basis, Process Description, PFDs, P&ID inputs and control philosophy.
- Develop technically sound and commercially competitive proposals, including process selection, technical write-ups, equipment sizing, operating cost assessment and value-engineering recommendations.
- Prepare design specifications, Bill of Quantity (BQ) and RFQ documents, and conduct technical evaluation and selection of process equipment and components.
- Support Business Development through site surveys, client meetings, technical presentations and proposal clarifications, translating customer operating requirements into practical process solutions.
- Provide process support during detailed design and project implementation, including review of process/piping layouts, vendor documents, operability, maintainability and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Lead or participate in testing, commissioning, start-up, performance testing and process troubleshooting; prepare or review commissioning procedures, O&M manuals and technical documentation, and provide client training where required.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and work closely with project, procurement, construction and operations teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule and to required performance standards.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Preferably 6 years or more of relevant experience in industrial water/wastewater treatment, with strong hands-on exposure to process design, plant commissioning, troubleshooting and/or O&M.
- Good practical knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment, particularly chemical and biological processes, aeration systems, DAF, membrane filtration and RO-based water reclamation.
- Experience in food & beverage, brewery, dairy, palm oil/oleochemical/petrochemical, rubber, oil & gas or other high-strength industrial wastewater applications will be an advantage.
- Proficient in process calculations and technical documentation; experience with membrane design/projection software such as WAVE or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Able to communicate effectively with clients, vendors and multidisciplinary teams; self-motivated, hands-on and willing to support site commissioning or overseas assignments when required.
- Candidate with more relevant work experience may be considered for a senior process engineer position.
