About the Job:

Peak Energy is looking for a motivated Process Engineering Intern with an interest in battery manufacturing to join our dynamic team. Working alongside our Manufacturing Engineering group, the intern will support efforts to improve manufacturing processes and procedures that help meet production goals while maintaining the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role designed for a student eager to learn how a fast-scaling battery manufacturing operation works from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of battery manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase product quality.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining quality control standards, helping ensure that batteries meet or exceed industry and company specifications.
  • Help evaluate equipment and technologies that can be integrated into the production process to improve product performance, reliability, and yield.
  • Support investigation and resolution of process-related issues, such as defects, deviations, and inefficiencies, using root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Help ensure that processes and equipment adhere to safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and equipment specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to support the transition of new products from development to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing engineering department.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field).
  • Strong understanding of materials science and battery components.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to be hands-on on the manufacturing floor and a strong eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to battery manufacturing processes, preferably lithium-ion or other advanced battery technologies, through coursework, projects, or prior internships.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Prior exposure to adhesion and dispense processes in battery assembly operations is considered a significant advantage.
