Process Planning Engineer

The Process Planning Engineer plays a critical role in the manufacturing industry by designing, developing, and optimizing production processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This position involves planning manufacturing workflows, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions that enhance productivity and reduce waste.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quotation phase: Conduct process feasibility evaluation, preliminary process routing planning, and tooling planning; participate in customer TR (Technical Review) communications to support quotation decision-making.
  • Project award phase: Carry out detailed process feasibility evaluation and process planning; develop the Process Flow Diagram (PFD), PFMEA, Engineering A-sheet, and list of process special characteristics
  • Responsible for production line layout design, equipment planning, and tooling planning, and track their implementation and delivery.
  • Conduct takt time and OEE analysis to identify bottlenecks and support capacity validation.
  • Plan and drive the implementation of process error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions.
  • Participate in process change management and production handover, and consolidate process planning standards and lessons learned.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required or higher
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, including at least one complete project followed through from the quotation or PFMEA phase to start of production (SOP).
  • Industry background: Experience in automotive components (stampings, machining, welding, or assembly preferred); familiar with IATF 16949 and the APQP core tools.
  • Tools & skills: Proficient in at least one CAD system (CATIA or NX/UG) for reading 3D models and developing process plans; able to use Excel for takt time and capacity calculations; experience with PFMEA software (e.g., APIS or Excel-based templates) is a plus
