Procurement and Supply Chain Supervisor

The Galliker Dairy Company, headquartered in Johnstown, PA since 1914, has an immediate opening for a Procurement and Supply Chain Manager. This position will be on site at the Johnstown PA facility.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Procurement and Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading all company procurement. This position plays a central role in maintaining cost efficiency, supply continuity, and compliance with company standards and food safety programs. The role requires strong analytical acumen, supplier relationship management, and close coordination with both internal production teams and external purchasing organizations. Due to the highly collaborative nature of our manufacturing environment, this is an in-person position.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop and execute strategies aligned with overall business goals to achieve cost savings, value and supply chain continuity.
  • Monitor industry trends and developments. Track commodity and futures markets to mitigate cost and supply risks.
  • Create and manage all purchase orders for ingredients, packaging and production supplies to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records within the SAP ERP system. Use business applications to maintain detailed purchasing data and spend analysis.
  • Participate in management of logistics and utilities contracts to optimize cost savings and ensure stable supply.

Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts to secure favorable pricing, delivery and payment terms.
  • Track supplier performance metrics (KPIs) and conduct reviews.
  • Develop proactive risk management processes to prevent shortages. Resolve disruptions to maintain supply chain continuity.

Warehouse Oversight

  • Supervise the Warehouse Manager who receives and manages all raw materials and packaging.
  • Oversee warehouse operations to ensure efficiency and optimize safety and materials flow. Monitor materials flow, inventory control and receiving processes.

Demand Forecasting

  • Work with Sales and Production personnel to forecast product demand and purchasing requirements on a rolling basis.

Quality and Compliance

  • Strategically source raw materials, packaging and services while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, certification standards, and traceability and sustainability requirements.

Maximize Cooperative Membership

  • Partner closely with Purchasing Cooperative category managers to leverage collective buying power and technical expertise.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Senior Management, Finance, Production, Product Development, QA and Sales teams to ensure procurement needs are cost-effective and align with business goals.

Process Improvement

  • Evaluate purchasing workflows and identify areas for automation, cost-reduction, and continuous operational improvements including analytics and digital tools.
  • Integrate AI tools to automate workflows and processes. Use e-procurement platforms efficiently and effectively.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR CONSIDERATION

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field and significant professional experience that demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • 5-7 years of procurement and supply chain management experience, preferably in the food and beverage manufacturing industry or consumer packaged goods.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems like SAP. Strong proficiency in Excel with advanced financial modeling experience, cost variance analysis and supplier scorecard management.
  • Familiarity with SQF or similar food safety certification systems.
  • Strong work ethic, leadership potential and willingness to learn. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Commitment to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and advance to a senior management position.
