Procurement Assistant Manager

Key Responsibilities:


1. Product Sourcing & Development
Research and evaluate attractive product lines to meet departmental and business needs.
Identify emerging market trends, consumer buying patterns, and competitor activities.
Develop and propose innovative product concepts to differentiate offerings and enhance customer experience.
Contribute to the planning and development of new product ranges aligned with business strategy.
2. Market Research & Trend Analysis
Conduct ongoing market research to identify new trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
Analyze customer preferences and sales data to guide purchasing decisions.
Stay updated on industry developments to maintain competitive advantage.
3. Supplier Management & Negotiation
Source, evaluate, and shortlist potential suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and service.
Participate in decision-making processes to select the most suitable vendors.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to achieve the best value for the company.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors while continuously seeking new partnerships.
4. Procurement & Cost Optimization
Ensure product quality standards are met while securing the most favorable pricing.
Monitor cost structures and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting procurement needs.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with merchandising, marketing, and operations teams during product planning and launches.
Coordinate with relevant departments throughout the purchasing process to ensure smooth execution.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
6. Merchandising & Sales Support
Collaborate with merchandising teams on product displays, promotions, and in-store activities.
Support initiatives to enhance product visibility and drive sales performance.
Provide insights to improve product positioning and customer engagement.
7. Relationship Management
Maintain strong working relationships within the division, across departments, and with store teams.
Foster collaboration in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
8. Team Leadership & People Management
Lead, supervise, and develop a team of procurement executives or assistants to ensure smooth daily operations.
Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor team performance to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
Provide guidance to enhance team capabilities and professional growth.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Ensure clear communication within the team and across departments.


Requirements & Qualifications
·
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Marketing, or related field.

Skills & Competencies:

· Experience: 3–6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or merchandising (retail/FMCG preferred).

· Experience in supplier negotiation and vendor management.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.

· Excellent negotiation and cost management capabilities.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong organizational and project coordination abilities.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement systems is an advantage.
