Procurement Coordinator

Position Overview

This position will play a key role in supporting our operations by managing purchasing activities, maintaining strong supplier partnerships, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement. In this role, you'll work closely with plant and office teams to ensure critical materials and supplies are available when needed, while helping the business achieve efficiency and growth goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchase orders (POs), which includes issuing POs to vendors, monitoring POs to ensure timely delivery, and matching POs with invoices and receipts.
  • Collaborate with plant operations to monitor and maintain designated inventory levels of key materials and supplies.
  • Act as the primary contact for internal customers (plant personnel and office) regarding purchase requests.
  • Select prospective vendors and negotiate contracts.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify risks, cost-saving opportunities, and alternative suppliers to support growth.
  • Reconcile monthly credit card purchases.
  • Generate creative approaches for the continuous improvement of purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Route vendor invoices to accounts payable as appropriate.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for vendors, building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Research purchase requests to find the best pricing and service options, and conduct bids as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in a similar role; prior purchasing experience in a production or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Well-organized with strong time management skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations with vendors regarding delivery and performance, and to negotiate pricing effectively.
  • Self-driven, capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • An Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred, but a combination of education and experience will be considered.
