Procurement cum Expeditor – Transformer Components
Location - Prayagraj
Job Purpose
Responsible primarily for expediting transformer components from PO placement through drawing approval, material procurement, manufacturing, inspection, testing and dispatch, ensuring timely availability as per project and production schedules. The role will continuously monitor supplier progress, identify delays, drive recovery actions and support procurement activities as a secondary responsibility.
Key Responsibilities – Expediting (Primary Focus)
· Prepare and maintain project-wise and supplier-wise expediting trackers based on required-for-production / required-on-site dates.
· Track the complete order cycle: PO acknowledgement, drawings, technical approvals, raw-material readiness, manufacturing, inspection, testing, packing and dispatch.
· Conduct regular supplier follow-ups through calls, emails and progress-review meetings.
· Monitor manufacturing progress against agreed milestones and identify slippages at an early stage.
· Prepare recovery plans for delayed materials and drive suppliers to meet committed delivery dates.
· Coordinate with Engineering for drawings, technical clarifications and approvals.
· Coordinate with Quality for QAP approval, inspection calls, FAT, test reports and quality clearance.
· Follow up for inspection reports, test certificates, compliance documents, packing lists and dispatch documents.
· Escalate critical delays and supply risks to SCM / Project Management with clear action plans and target dates.
· Visit critical or delayed suppliers when required to assess progress and accelerate recovery.
· Coordinate with Logistics and Stores to ensure timely pickup, transportation and receipt of materials.
· Maintain accurate daily / weekly material status and highlight critical shortages impacting project milestones.
Procurement Responsibilities – Secondary Focus
· Support procurement of transformer components against approved BOM, PR/MRP and project requirements.
· Obtain and evaluate technical and commercial quotations from approved / potential suppliers.
· Support commercial negotiations, comparative statements and cost-saving initiatives.
· Assist in Purchase Order preparation and ensure specifications, drawings, QAP, inspection requirements and delivery schedules are clearly defined.
· Support alternate-source development for critical or single-source items.
· Follow up commercial issues, order acknowledgements and supplier commitments.
Transformer Components – Scope
· Transformer tanks and fabricated parts
· Radiators / coolers and conservators
· OLTCs, diverter switches and bushings
· CTs and other transformer accessories
· Insulation and pressboard components
· Copper / aluminium conductors and CTC
· CRGO laminations / core-related items
· Marshalling boxes and control cabinets
· Fans, pumps, valves, fittings and piping
· Buchholz relays, PRD, oil level gauges and related accessories
· Hardware, gaskets, O-rings and miscellaneous bought-out items
Supplier Management
· Conduct regular supplier performance reviews covering OTD, quality, responsiveness and execution capability.
· Identify supplier capacity constraints and potential delivery risks.
· Develop strong working relationships with critical suppliers and drive corrective actions.
· Support supplier development and alternate-source initiatives.
Cross-Functional Coordination
· Engineering – drawings, specifications and technical clarifications
· Planning – project priorities and required dates
· Quality – QAP, inspection, FAT and quality clearance
· Projects – milestone commitments and critical shortages
· Stores / Logistics – dispatch, transportation and material receipt
· Finance – payment-related supplier constraints
· Management – escalation of critical delivery risks

· On-Time Delivery (OTD) – target ≥95%
· Reduction in overdue Purchase Orders
· Material readiness against project / production requirement dates
· Closure of supplier delays and recovery actions within agreed timelines

· Timely completion of inspection, documentation and dispatch activities
Qualification & Experience
· Diploma / Graduate in any relevant discipline.
· Engineering Diploma / Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related field is preferred.
· MBA in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Operations or related discipline will be an added advantage.
· 5–8 years of relevant experience in procurement, supplier expediting or material follow-up.
· Experience in transformer manufacturing, power equipment, switchgear, electrical manufacturing or heavy engineering is preferred.
