Overview
A major energy operator is seeking a procurement and materials specialist to support procurement and materials management activities across large-scale oil and gas projects. The role focuses on ensuring timely sourcing, tracking, and delivery of materials, including long-lead and critical equipment, in alignment with project schedules and operational requirements.
Key responsibilities
Procurement and project support
Support procurement and materials management across ongoing projects, including shutdown activities
Assist in developing procurement strategies and project cost and schedule inputs
Review contractor procurement and materials management processes and procedures
Support procurement of long-lead and critical materials through approved purchasing channels
Materials management and SAP systems
Track materials to ensure timely delivery aligned with project requirements
Manage SAP MM activities including BOM updates and materials data control
Support surplus materials and inventory management activities
Coordinate management of blinding materials for projects and shutdowns
Support materials reconciliation with QA/QC, warehouse teams, and contractors
Vendor and supply chain management
Support vendor pre-qualification and approval processes
Maintain and update approved vendor lists
Coordinate with vendors on delivery performance and compliance
Support expediting and logistics activities
Governance and compliance
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company procedures
Support implementation of procurement and materials management processes
Ensure adherence to audit and governance requirements
Team and stakeholder coordination
Support supervision of materials coordinators
Liaise with project teams, contractors, and supply chain functions
Participate in meetings and provide procurement and materials status updates
Support reporting and project close-out activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation engineering, or related field
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil and gas procurement or materials management
- Strong experience with long-lead and critical equipment procurement
- Good understanding of materials management processes including BOM and inventory control
- Strong experience with SAP MM (procurement, logistics, materials management)
- Experience in vendor pre-qualification and supplier management
- Strong knowledge of project procurement and supply chain processes
- Good communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience supporting or supervising teams is an advantage
