The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for maintaining acceptable inventory levels for yogurt production needs, will manage vendor relations and service levels, and will continually work to monitor and lower costs. The Procurement Specialist will utilize analytical, marketing, sales, and buying knowledge to efficiently and cost effectively source, contract and secure raw materials and packaging commodities in support of the Company’s business. The Procurement Specialist will also be the backup yogurt scheduler. The yogurt scheduler plans production and packaging of yogurt. Additional duties include assisting with month-end inventory counts for accounting purposes.

This position is onsite at our location outside of Monroe, Wisconsin, 5 days a week during normal business operating hours. Remote work is not available.

Job Duties:

  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies or parts to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules.
  • Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Develop purchasing strategies, including inventory forecasting and stocking.
  • Managing vendor relationships, including review of vendor agreements, and negotiating purchasing terms.
  • Approving and issuing purchase orders, negotiating pricing, terms of purchase, and on-time deliveries.
  • Processing purchase orders, equipment receivables, and vendor invoices.
  • Creating and maintaining vendor contracts and purchasing files.
  • Collaborating with management, sales team, vendors, service personnel, and customers while building and maintaining excellent relationships
  • Creating and reviewing inventory reports capturing current, slow, excess, and obsolete inventory.
  • Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
  • Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
  • Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
  • Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
  • Study sales records and inventory levels of current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate employee access to supplies.
  • Responsible for proactive communication between sales, production scheduling and suppliers to ensure clear understanding, agreement, and communication of all supply requirements.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
