Procurement Supervisor

Discussion

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Procurement Supervisor to serve as the operational lead to our site-level buyers. This is a pivotal role at Techo-Bloc — one that keeps the procurement team aligned, supported, and running at a high level across all sites.

You will be the first point of contact for our Procurement team on day-to-day challenges — helping resolve supplier issues, setting priorities, reviewing complex purchasing decisions, and coordinating across departments. At the same time, you will carry your own portfolio of suppliers and purchasing responsibilities, setting the standard for what great procurement execution looks like at Techo-Bloc.

This role is ideal for someone who has grown beyond individual-contributor procurement work and is ready to take on a leadership dimension — someone who builds trust with their team, thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, and is motivated by team success as much as personal execution.

Key Responsibilities

Team Support & Supervision

  • Act as the primary day-to-day resource and first escalation point for site buyers, providing guidance on purchasing decisions, supplier issues, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Help the team prioritize urgent needs, shortages, and competing demands across multiple sites.
  • Support onboarding, training, and the ongoing development of procurement team
  • Monitor team purchasing activity and flag risks or escalations to the Procurement Manager as needed.
  • Ensure purchasing controls, documentation standards, and process consistency are maintained across the team.
  • Run regular team check-ins, support workload balancing, and contribute to performance feedback, objective follow-up, and coverage planning.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying process gaps and helping implement practical improvements across the team.

Operational Purchasing

  • Lead resolution of escalated supplier situations requiring senior judgment — pricing disputes, lead time negotiations, and critical shortages.
  • Communicate supply risks, delays, and changes to internal stakeholders clearly and in a timely manner.
  • Track and report KPIs — on-time delivery, cost savings, PO cycle time, supplier performance — and drive corrective action when targets slip.
  • Enforce purchasing policy, approval workflows, and internal controls, and maintain audit-ready purchasing records across the team.
  • Partner with Planning and Operations to support inventory health, MRP review, min/max accuracy, shortage prevention.

Master Data & ERP Oversight (D365)

  • Support master data quality across the team's work in D365, including item masters, vendor setups, UOM configurations, and item-vendor relationships.
  • Review and support approval of data changes that carry operational or financial risk.
  • Ensure data accuracy across sites to support reliable purchasing, planning, and inventory reporting.
  • Support change management for D365, reporting tools, and new procurement processes by helping train users, reinforce adoption, and identify gaps after implementation.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Serve as a senior procurement point of contact for Operations, Logistics, Customer Service, Finance, and Yard teams when escalations or cross-site issues arise.
  • Help the team navigate competing priorities and align with internal stakeholders on timelines, stocking plans, and delivery ETAs.
  • Partner with the Procurement Manager on supplier strategy and team development priorities.
  • Lead or support vendor performance reviews, supplier scorecards, corrective action follow-ups, and recurring discussions with key suppliers when chronic issues arise.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or a related operational environment.
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a team — formal or informal.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 (AX, SAP, or similar also considered).
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, resolve escalations, and make sound purchasing decisions under pressure.
  • Available to travel between sites as needed, with occasional on-site presence to support the team, suppliers, or cross-functional priorities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; comfortable with data analysis and reporting.

Key Competencies

  • Natural leader who leads by example and builds trust with peers and direct reports alike.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to triage and prioritize in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple files and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communicator — clear and effective with suppliers, team members, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborative problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Resourceful and results-driven, motivated by team success as much as individual contribution.
  • Strategic mindset paired with strong operational execution.

Success in This Role

  • Buyers are more autonomous, aligned, and confident in day-to-day decisions.
  • Operational escalations are resolved faster with better visibility and follow-through.
  • Purchasing data, supplier performance, and KPI discipline improve across sites.
  • Processes are clearer, more consistent, and easier for the team to follow.
