Procurement Technician II
General Summary: Under general supervision and according to laws governing purchasing and departmental policies and procedures, assists in auditing agency purchasing documents for compliance to include but not limited to the City of Augusta and the newly approved Disparity Study, and assists in developing and conducting training classes for agency users. Processes open market and agency contract requisitions and assists with statewide contracts as team workload dictates. Reports to the Director or other designated person and works with co-workers, directors, vendors, and the public to provide administrative support.
Key Responsibilities and Performance Aptitudes
- Receive and review purchase requisitions by verifying information provided and determining the appropriate method of procurement. Issue, place and process purchase orders. Assist the Acquisition Team Leader in monitoring of requisitions for compliance of all laws of the City to include the approved Disparity Study.
- Obtain price quotes from vendors, process purchase orders, distributes copies, and maintain files. Maintain the department supply room and performs an annual inventory.
- Answer the telephone, respond to inquiries, and distribute mail. Serve as resource for subordinate personnel.
- Assist in auditing agency purchasing documents for compliance with rules regulations, policies, and procedures. Assisting in developing and conducting training classes related to the Agency Purchasing Manual for agency procurement officers.
- Assist in resolving internal and external problems such as vendor non-compliance, late or damaged shipments, emergency requests, and vendor protest of awards made. Maintain a consistent, high quality, customer focused orientation when conducting business and providing services or products to clients, the general public and other external customers.
- Mail vendor invoices, generate orders for non-stock items, and make corrections as approved by the Team Leader and Director.
