Spangler’s Market is a community-focused grocery store known for high-quality products and outstanding customer service. We’re seeking a dependable, friendly, and organized individual to join our team as a Part-Time Produce Clerk in our newest location in the West Portal area of San Francisco.
We are currently hiring for a part-time position and are seeking a candidate with flexible availability to work at least 2-3 days per week, primarily morning shifts from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Ideal candidates are dependable, punctual, comfortable with early morning shifts, and flexible enough to support both produce and deli set-up operations as needed.

Job Title: Produce Clerk (Part-Time)
Department: Produce
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Shift: 2-3 Days/Week, Starting from 7:00 AM
- Required: Thursdays and Fridays, with the possibility of an additional weekday morning shift.
Location: 186 W Portal, San Francisco, CA 94127
Hourly Range: $20.50 - $23.00 per Hour, Based on Experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answers customer questions, directs customers to the items they are looking for, documents customer requests, and listens to customer complaints if the District General Manager or MOD is unavailable.
- Properly uses knives, sinks, price guns, and irrigation and climate control equipment
- Cleans shelves, bins, cases, tables, and coolers
- Bags or wraps purchased for the customer or for display
- Ensures product is placed in the produce area, cuts and preps produce, removes old produce, and properly displays on shelves
- Organizes produce shelves
- Assists in other duties, as assigned
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the deli only for morning setup and preparation duties, with no customer-facing deli responsibilities anticipated
- Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns during shift and reports to the District GM or MOD. Keeps store in clean, orderly condition during shift. Sees that spills and hazardous conditions are cleaned up
- If a potential shoplifter is identified, uses CB to advise the District GM or MOD.
- Protects the safety of self, co-workers, and Spangler’s Market patrons at all times
- Reports safety-related accidents and incidents immediately to a management team member.
- Follows all company and safety policies and procedures
- Operates equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury to oneself or others
- Dynamically sells products by providing customers with the information needed to make product-related decisions
- Fulfills sanitation and safety guidelines
- Assists in other duties as assigned
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Produce department experience is required
- Ability to follow instructions, policies, and procedures
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Strong communication skills and enjoy engaging with customers
- Consistently reliable with strong attendance and punctuality
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment
- Previous grocery experience preferred
- Experience in stocking preferred
