The Role
The Product Architect provides architectural leadership for a digital product area, with a primary focus on data architecture. This role develops a deep understanding of Hyatt’s legacy data models, systems, and integrations, and helps product and engineering teams make sound decisions as business requirements evolve.
The Product Architect assesses how proposed capabilities and changes affect the data model, data flows, integrations, and downstream consumers. They work with product, engineering, database, and platform teams to define solutions that preserve data integrity and support reliable, secure, and scalable applications.
· Understand and document core legacy data models, including how key entities, business rules, and integrations are used across the Hyatt ecosystem.
· Translate business requirements into data and application architecture, identifying impacts to existing models, interfaces, processes, and downstream systems.
· Provide architectural direction across the product area, including application services, APIs, integrations, and platform dependencies, so solutions meet business needs and work reliably across the broader ecosystem.
· Evaluate options and recommend architectural direction, explaining tradeoffs and implications for the product and its data.
· Guide teams on data design, relational modeling, SQL, APIs, event-driven integration, and application architecture patterns.
· Coordinate solution strategies across teams so systems and data integrations work together and can scale.
· Identify and optimize recurring operational processes that depend on product data and systems, such as monthly and annual sales data cycles. Coordinate execution, clarify ownership and controls, and reduce manual effort and failure risk.
· Define and coordinate operational validation after maintenance windows, releases, and other system changes. Confirm that critical applications, integrations, and data processes are functioning as expected, and ensure issues are triaged and resolved with the responsible teams.
· Establish and document architecture decisions, standards, and reference designs, including through RFCs.
· Partner with internal and external stakeholders, and mentor engineers in data design, scalability, reliability, and operational practices.
· Evaluate tools and frameworks when they address a clear product or architecture need.
