Hengstler-Dynapar is looking for a Lead Product Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Kezmarok, Slovakia to support Product and Industrial Product portfolio innovations. The Lead Product Design Engineer is responsible for transforming customer challenges into innovative industrial products. Working across thermal printers, timers, counters, and relays, this role partners with product management and customers to understand application requirements, translate verified market needs into technical product specifications, and lead the development of new product solutions from concept through validation.
Key responsibilities:
Develop product concepts and system architectures for thermal printers, timers, counters, relays, and related industrial products based on the customer technical discussions.
Define product performance requirements, acceptance criteria, and verification plans. Identify project risks and generate alternatives/recommendations to address risk.
Design and build functional prototypes to validate concepts and technical feasibility.
Conduct laboratory testing, analyzing results, and iterating designs based on findings.
Drive technical decisions, remove development roadblocks, and maintain project momentum.
Support design reviews and ensure products meet performance, reliability, safety, regulatory, and manufacturability requirements.
Support manufacturing transfer, pilot builds, and product launches.
Assist with technical documentation, product specifications, and engineering change activities.
Monitor product performance in the field and recommend design improvements.
Contribute to engineering best practices, design standards, and innovation initiatives.
Collaborate with the customers on special custom requests and advanced technical engineering projects.
Support Product Management in feasibility assessment for new products, product features, capabilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical or electronic engineering, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
5 to 10 years of experience with new product development.
Experience developing electromechanical and electronic products from concept to production.
Experience working with customers to understand technical requirements.
Ability to translate business and customer needs into engineering specifications.
Experience working within cross-functional product development teams.
Familiarity with stage-gate or structured product development processes.
SAFe (scaled agile framework) experience.
Fluent English, German language is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with thermal printing technologies and/or industrial automation products.
Knowledge of embedded systems, firmware interactions, and electromechanical assemblies.
Experience with prototyping, verification testing, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM and FMEA).
This position requires participation in customer visits to observe products in real-world operating environments. The role includes domestic travel, with occasional international travel as business needs require. Total travel is expected to be less than 10%.
Salary: 3 000 EUR/monthly gross
ICP (annual) bonus: 10%
