Product Design Lead
Summary
Leads end-to-end design of sustainable packaging products — moulded fibre, paper bags, and flexible packaging — turning concepts into manufacturable designs with CAD models, engineering drawings, and prototypes. Core tools include SolidWorks, Onshape, Creo, CATIA, and AutoCAD, with DFM/DFA and prototyping workflows.
About Pakka
Limited
At Pakka Ltd, we are committed to sustainable innovation,
creating eco-friendly packaging solutions that align with the needs of modern
businesses. With over 40 years of manufacturing excellence and a strong R&D
foundation, we have been revolutionizing in three major segments, namely Wrap
& Carry, Food Services & Flexible packaging. Join us to shape the
future of packaging and make a meaningful impact.
Mission of
the Role
Design and develop innovative, functional, cost-effective,
and sustainable packaging products across multiple product categories,
including moulded fibre products, paper bags, flexible packaging formats, and
other emerging applications. Translate product concepts and business
requirements into technically feasible, manufacturable, and commercially viable
designs, supporting the complete product development cycle from concept to
commercialization.
Key
Responsibilities
1. Develop innovative product concepts, 3D CAD models, 2D
engineering drawings, structural designs, folding patterns, dielines, product
geometries, assembly concepts, and detailed specifications for moulded fibre,
paper bags, food service, and other sustainable packaging applications.
2. Translate customer and business requirements into
functional designs considering usability, aesthetics, material properties,
manufacturing feasibility, and dimensional tolerances; apply DFM, DFA, and
value engineering principles.
3. Optimize product geometry, dimensions, material
consumption, weight, strength, stackability, fitment, and functionality to
improve product performance and reduce costs; conduct engineering calculations
and simulations where required.
4. Develop functional prototypes through 3D printing, sample
cutting, and mock-ups; coordinate product trials and validation, evaluate
results against customer and dimensional requirements, and incorporate feedback
into design improvements.
5. Collaborate with mould makers, die manufacturers,
converters, and production teams on moulds, cutting dies, creasing tools, tooling
drawings, manufacturing feasibility, production trials, and design-related
problem solving.
6. Work with Innovation, R&D, Sales, Marketing,
Production, Procurement, Quality, external design agencies, and suppliers to
explore new product structures, material applications, and differentiated
sustainable packaging concepts.
7. Maintain CAD models, drawings, dielines, BOMs, product
specifications, revision records, and an organized design database; manage
design milestones, standardize practices, support design reviews and
commercialization, and contribute to intellectual property development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
· Mechanical Engineering
· Product Design / Industrial Design
· Related engineering or design discipline
Experience
· 4–7 years of relevant experience in product
design, packaging design, mechanical design, or industrial product development.
· Hands-on experience in 3D CAD modelling, 2D
drawings, prototyping, and manufacturing-oriented product design.
· Experience in paper packaging, moulded fibre,
plastic packaging, thermoforming, or consumer product development preferred.
· Understanding of packaging manufacturing
processes, tooling development, and material behaviour.
Skills
· Proficiency in Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA,
AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software.
· Structural packaging design, folding mechanisms,
dielines, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design principles.
· Knowledge of moulding, thermoforming,
die-cutting, creasing, folding, and packaging conversion processes.
· Rapid prototyping, design validation, DFM/DFA,
material reduction, and cost optimization; basic FEA knowledge is an advantage.
· Creativity, problem-solving, attention to
detail, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration.
