About the role
A NSW Government agency is seeking an experienced Product Designer to join a fast-paced agile team, working within design sprints across research, prototyping, testing and iteration. Key responsibilities
  • Participate in agile design sprints - research, prototyping, testing, iteration
  • Incorporate technical rating rules requirements into design solutions
  • Build low to high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes within the existing Figma design system
  • Ensure designs meet inclusive design and web accessibility standards
  • Conduct user testing and iterate based on findings
  • Write functional user stories in Jira for the dev team
  • Partner with the Design Manager on research strategy and execution
  • Synthesise research into insights, advocating for user-centred outcomes
  • Document design decisions and rationale in Confluence
Key challenges
  • Translating complex technical rules into intuitive UX
  • Running effective stakeholder engagement and co-design without derailing sprint timelines
  • Managing competing priorities and scope to protect MVP delivery
Essential skills and experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills
  • Analytical, detail-oriented approach to complex technical information
  • Ability to manage scope and maintain focus on project objectives
  • Advanced Figma skills — design systems, component creation, prototyping
  • Strong user-centred design capability, with hands-on research and usability testing experience
  • Outcomes-focused, with strong research-to-design translation skills
  • 3–4+ years' Product Design experience
  • Experience on complex products/services involving multiple user groups, workflows, business rules, approvals, exceptions and integrations
  • Experience documenting requirements/user stories/decisions in Jira and Confluence
  • Salesforce Cloud experience or interest desirable but not essential
