We’re passionate about improving the fan experience and providing game-changing solutions for our clients, and we’re always looking for smart, motivated people to help make it happen. Bring your enthusiasm, your big ideas, and your desire to team up with some of the best and brightest in technology and entertainment.

The Role

AXS is seeking a Product Designer to join our Carbonhouse team in Charlotte, NC. Carbonhouse builds the digital infrastructure behind live entertainment—the websites and products powering arenas, stadiums, theaters, and the events that fill them. We're not just a web agency anymore; we're becoming a product and platform company, and design sits at the center of that shift.

This role holds two distinct responsibilities at once:
  • Lead client website designs: Present to clients, translate their brand identity, and own the work from first concept to launch.
  • Maintain a product lens: Use every client build to discover and pressure-test reusable patterns for our core platform.
In this position, you will get designs close to production, partner tightly with developers to ship them, and feed what you learn back into the product.
If your instinct on a client project is to "just get this one out the door," this isn't the role for you. If your instinct is "how do I make this client's site excellent and build it in a way that benefits the next fifty clients," keep reading.

What Will You Do?

  • Lead end-to-end client projects: Own the design process from concept to launch on our platform, collaborating closely with the Creative Director to present concepts, interpret client brands with high craft, and drive successful outcomes.
  • Serve the client and build the product simultaneously: Deliver tailored solutions for the client in front of you while identifying scalable patterns to feed our growing product suite, ensuring each project compounds value rather than ending at launch.
  • Design in real materials, not just Figma: Utilize AI-assisted tooling to prototype and validate concepts in environments close to a working front-end, ensuring clients see realistic outputs and hand-offs to development are pre-tested.
  • Partner with development as a peer, not a hand-off: Consult on technical feasibility early, speak the engineering team's language, shape clean work, and reduce development churn by answering complex structural questions before build starts.
  • Direct AI as a core part of your workflow: Architect prompts, build small automations, evaluate machine output, and use AI to accelerate velocity without sacrificing design craft. You establish what "good" looks like when tools generate initial drafts.
  • Contribute to shared design systems: Help build and maintain the team's components, patterns, and design tokens, ensuring they are continuously informed by real client needs.
  • Turn data into client and product decisions: Analyze user analytics and usage metrics across active sites, transforming raw numbers into insights that inform both immediate client work and our long-term product roadmap.
  • Share craft with the wider team: Mentor associate designers to help them grow, provide constructive feedback, model effective AI and developer collaboration, and feed strategic product direction back to the Creative Director based on client insights.

What Will You Bring?

  • 4-6 years of web/product design experience, with a portfolio that shows systems thinking and brand applied with intention - not just pretty screens.
  • Client-facing confidence. You present your own work to clients, defend design decisions, read the room, and turn feedback into better outcomes without losing the craft.
  • Expert Figma: components, variants, Variables, design tokens, library management, table stakes.
  • AI-native workflow. You already design with AI: prompting, iterating, evaluating output, building small automations. You have opinions about when the model is right and when it's wrong, and the taste to tell the difference.
  • Fluency turning design into near-production prototypes using AI-assisted tools - enough to validate your own work before it reaches
  • Comfortable reading and evaluating code and understanding front-end constraints. You don't write production code, but code doesn't scare you and you can hold a real conversation with a developer about feasibility.
  • Deep command of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG AA+), and performance-conscious design.
  • Systems: You design for the client in front of you and for reuse across our sites and products.
  • Data-informed judgement: You can interpret analytics and turn them into decisions.
  • Ownership: You make confident calls on your own projects and flag the exceptions.

Bonus points if You Have

  • Building custom integrations or automations that streamline the design-to-development pipeline
  • Familiarity with CMS / Saas / platform constraints and designing within them
  • Experience designing productized systems or component libraries meant to be sold and reused
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS or front-end architecture
  • Sports, entertainment, or live-event industry experience
