Product Designer - Fintech
Description
Product Designer:
Experience: 3 - 5 years | Full-time | Bangalore
We are building products that help people make better decisions with their money. We are looking for a Product Designer who can combine strong visual craft with sharp product thinking and thrive in the ambiguity of an early-stage company. This is not a role where you will receive a Figma brief and execute screens. You will be expected to understand the problem, figure out what the product should do, and turn ideas into simple, thoughtful, and high-quality experiences.
What we are looking for:
Strong visual design fundamentals:
You have a strong eye and care deeply about detail. You understand layout, typography, hierarchy, interaction, spacing, and visual systems, and can create interfaces that are clear, modern, and visually compelling. You care about the last 10% of a design and know that small details can make a product feel significantly better.
Product thinking:
You do not need a perfectly defined Figma task to get started. You can understand what problem we are solving, for whom, and why it matters - and then figure out what the product should do. You will work closely with product and engineering to turn ambiguous problems into simple product experiences, rather than simply designing against a predefined brief.
Comfort with ambiguity:
Startups rarely give you a perfect brief. You should be comfortable working with incomplete information, changing requirements, and evolving ideas. You can ask the right questions, make decisions with imperfect information, and figure things out along the way.
0 - 1 mindset:
You enjoy creating something that does not exist yet. You can explore different directions, make thoughtful trade-offs, prototype ideas quickly, and take a concept from a rough thought to a tangible product. You do not wait for everything to be figured out before getting started.
AI-native workflow:
You actively experiment with AI and see it as more than a chatbot. You might use AI for research, synthesis, ideation, prototyping, coding, image generation, content, automation, or internal tools. We are particularly excited by designers who are constantly discovering new ways to work better and move faster with AI.
Strong communication:
You can explain why you made a design decision, present your work clearly, and collaborate effectively with product and engineering. You are comfortable giving and receiving feedback and do not get overly precious about your designs. You understand that good design comes from iteration and collaboration, not from getting everything right on the first try.
What you will do:
- Own product design problems from problem definition through execution and launch.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to shape product direction.
- Translate complex financial problems into simple, intuitive experiences.
- Explore multiple solutions through flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Build polished experiences while maintaining consistency across the product.
- Contribute to and evolve the design system.
- Use research, customer feedback, and product data to inform your decisions.
- Prototype and experiment rapidly using Figma, AI, and other tools.
- Take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them toward a shipped outcome.
- Help establish and raise the bar for design quality and product thinking.
What you will bring:
- 3 - 5 years of experience in product design.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating shipped digital products and your design thinking.
- Strong visual and interaction design fundamentals.
- Excellent working knowledge of Figma.
- Ability to think beyond individual screens and understand the product as a whole.
- Experience working closely with engineers and product teams.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
- Curiosity and hands-on experimentation with AI-powered design workflows.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills.
Bonus points:
- Experience in fintech, financial products, payments, banking, or consumer apps.
- Experience working in an early-stage startup or on 0 - 1 products.
- Familiarity with design systems.
- Ability to prototype with code or AI-assisted development tools.
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
The kind of person who will thrive here:
You are someone who can look at an ambiguous problem and say: "I do not have all the answers yet, but I know how to figure this out." You care about craft, but you are not precious about it. You think about users, business, and technology - not just pixels. You enjoy exploring, experimenting, and shipping. Most importantly, you want to build something that does not exist yet.
