Product Designer II - Remote
Description
About DataDive
DataDive is a research platform built for Amazon sellers, including brand owners, agencies, and consultants. The platform helps customers research product niches, monitor keyword rankings, identify wasted advertising spend, and make informed decisions about listing performance.
DataDive works with data-heavy workflows, including large keyword datasets, ranking histories, competitor benchmarks, and advertising alerts. The product design focus is on making complex information clear, easy to navigate, and useful for customers making important business decisions.
About the Role
DataDive is looking for a Senior Product Designer to take ownership of the product experience from early problem discovery through design and implementation. You’ll work directly with engineering and customer-facing team members to understand user needs, define solutions, and deliver improvements across the application.
This is a hands-on role with significant design ownership. You’ll help shape product direction, conduct customer research, create intuitive interfaces for complex data, and work closely with engineers throughout development and quality assurance. Rather than handing off designs and stepping away, you’ll remain involved until features are implemented and ready to ship.
The role is well suited to a designer who combines strong interaction and visual design skills with an understanding of information-dense software and the needs of experienced users.
Key Responsibilities
•Own product design across core features, including niche research, keyword and ranking views, alerts, and reporting.
•Turn ambiguous product challenges into clear user flows, practical design solutions, and intuitive experiences.
•Speak with customers, observe their workflows, and identify usability issues, friction points, and opportunities for improvement.
•Design data-rich interfaces that make information easy to scan and act on, including tables, filters, time-series charts, and comparison views.
•Build and maintain the product design system, including reusable components and patterns that support consistency as the application grows.
•Create prototypes to test ideas, explore alternatives, and validate design decisions before development.
•Work closely with engineers throughout implementation, reviewing the finished experience and helping resolve design issues.
•Contribute to quality assurance by checking that implemented features align with design intent and meet usability expectations.
•Improve interface details such as empty states, loading behavior, error messages, and keyboard navigation to make the product more efficient to use.
•Document design decisions and communicate the reasoning behind product and interface choices.
•Help establish design processes and working practices as the product and team evolve.
Required Qualifications
•At least 5 years of experience designing software products.
•Meaningful experience designing complex, data-heavy products, such as analytics platforms, business intelligence tools, developer tools, fintech products, or operations software.
•A portfolio demonstrating the design process, including problem framing, exploration, alternatives considered, and the reasoning behind final decisions—not just polished screens.
•Strong interaction design and visual design skills, with confidence designing information-dense interfaces.
•Fluency in Figma, including components, reusable patterns, and design system development.
•Working knowledge of front-end development constraints and the ability to collaborate with engineers on implementation trade-offs.
•Familiarity with React, TypeScript, and Tailwind at a level that supports productive technical discussions.
•Ability to work independently with limited direction and take ownership of design decisions.
•Clear written communication skills, including the ability to document decisions and explain design rationale.
•Comfort working in an environment where design processes and workflows are still being developed.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with Amazon, e-commerce, marketplace products, or related data.
•Experience designing workflows for power users and other audiences who work with complex tools regularly.
•Ability to contribute front-end code.
•Experience designing AI-assisted products or agentic workflows.
Why Join DataDive
This role offers the opportunity to influence the product from the beginning of the design process rather than focusing only on its visual presentation. DataDive customers use the platform daily and provide direct feedback, creating short feedback loops and opportunities to improve the product continuously.
The team is small, and the path from an idea to a shipped feature is direct. You’ll have meaningful ownership of the user experience and work closely with engineering and customer-facing colleagues to shape how the product develops.
Benefits
•Health insurance.
•401(k) retirement plan.
•Flexible paid time off (PTO).
