About Treeswift

In the face of rising threats, increasing pressure on affordability, and unprecedented demand for power, Treeswift empowers energy companies to modernize their field work to meet the growth and challenges ahead.

We build physical AI for the field worker: whether on foot or in a vehicle, our technology is an ironman suit for engineers, linemen, and vegetation crews: same worker, same boots on the ground, now operating at 10x productivity. Our platform is powered by cutting edge hardware, sensors (LiDAR, camera, etc…), AI and software designed to revolutionize work in the toughest environments.

Since our first pilot with a utility in June 2024, we've grown fast, now working with three of the five largest utilities in the US. To date, our technology has enabled our customers to reduce wildfire risk, regulatory and outage risk from vegetation, avoid delays and cost overruns in new construction, and accelerate recovery from severe storms.

To tackle this challenge, we are bringing together a team of mission-driven experts with deep industry experience in robotics (Penn, Caltech, CMU) and enterprise software development (Palantir, Stripe, Oracle, MongoDB). We have raised funding from leading investors including Penny Pritzker’s Inspired Capital.

We are headquartered in midtown Manhattan, with additional offices in San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Our growth is only accelerating. We’re looking for deeply curious and highly ambitious people who want to have a real world impact. Come build the future of (field) work with us.

About the role

You will be Treeswift’s first full-time design hire joining at a pivotal moment: our product is used by some of the largest utilities in the country, and we are scaling from our work with early partners to become the broader platform for modern utility field operations.

This is a rare opportunity to define how design informs our product and organization from the ground up. You will own end-to-end product design across our web platform and hardware physical interfaces, shaping how customers interact with complex geospatial, imagery, and LiDAR data, and establish the design systems and product patterns that allow us to scale across customers, use cases, and teams.

You will be deeply hands-on in the early days, talking to users, mapping workflows, prototyping, designing core product experiences, and partnering closely with product and engineering to ship. You will set the tone for larger design organization: setting the bar for craft, developing repeatable design processes, and influencing the product strategy behind a new category of software and hardware for utilities.

This role is ideal for someone who wants significant ownership, comfortable with high ambiguity, and the chance to build the design function for a mission-driven company from its earliest stages.

What You’ll Do

  • Own end-to-end product design. Contribute to design across Treeswift’s core platform, from discovery and workflow mapping through polished designs, prototypes, implementation details, and post-launch iteration.

  • Design for complex, real-world operational decisions. Our users rely on Treeswift to inspect, triage, and act on data collected in the field. You will design interfaces that make dense, multidimensional data understandable and actionable for arborists, storm responders, and utility operations teams.

  • Build scalable product and design systems. Own our design system, component library, interaction patterns, and visual language. Help turn customer-specific workflows into reusable primitives that keep the product coherent as we expand.

  • Partner deeply across functions. Work closely with product, engineering, forward deployed engineers, customer teams, and sales to translate customer needs into high-quality product experiences.

  • Shape design culture at Treeswift. At Treeswift, curiosity drives how we approach problems, and high ownership drives how we approach execution. We are looking for someone who leads by example in this regard, and creates an organization in which these values continue to thrive as we grow significantly.

Experience / Skills

  • 5+ years of professional product design experience, including meaningful time shipping complex B2B, enterprise software.

  • A portfolio that shows strong craft across interaction design, information design, and visual design, especially for data-dense interfaces.

  • Comfort operating as a senior IC and a leader simultaneously. You can run a workshop with executives, sit with a field inspector, and build Figma design files and interactive prototypes.

  • Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and excitement to work in an early-stage environment. You can be scrappy when needed, and also have experience helping teams mature their design practices over time.

  • Fluency designing and maintaining design systems in production.

Nice-to-have, but not required

  • Experience designing for geospatial, 3D, or map-heavy interfaces.

  • Prior work in utilities, energy, infrastructure, construction, logistics, or other sectors with a large field or industrial component.

What We Value

  • Mission first. We value team members who are focused on working towards the best outcomes for the customer and the business.

  • Curiosity. We are constantly learning — from each other and from our customers. We aren't afraid to learn we were wrong in the process and adapt our approach accordingly.

  • Owners mindset. If you see an opportunity for improvement, run with it. We believe that good ideas can come from anywhere, no matter your role.
