Summary
Builds Laminar Insights, the full-stack product that turns sub-second factory telemetry into dashboards for operators, plant managers, and executives. Work spans React/TypeScript frontend, Python prototyping, and SQL/backend optimization in close collaboration with data science and forward-deployed engineers.

Forty percent of global manufacturing happens through physical and chemical processes inside pipes, tanks, and reactors. Despite decades of industrial automation, much of what happens inside them remains remarkably invisible. Manufacturing is the most ubiquitous and foundational sector in global economy, yet the way factories are fundamentally run have used the same control philosophies, manual operations, and legacy software for the past 60 years.
Laminar deploys novel sensors and edge hardware directly into live production environments, generating data that didn’t previously exist to build foundation models deployed in factory floors that understand chemistry, composition, quality, and material state in real time. The Role
Laminar Insights is where the plant sees what Laminar did and why. Every Laminar Line streams sub-second telemetry into it: what the sensors saw, what the model decided, and what each run saved in time, water, chemicals, and energy. A factory operator uses it to watch production in progress. A plant manager uses it to defend savings to corporate. An executive uses it to see how their manufacturing footprint is performing. Insights is the platform that makes that telemetry usable. Here’s a short explainer video on Insights:We are looking for engineers who understand the bigger picture and work across the stack: frontend, backend, design, and everything in between to create great products that users love – all the way from customers to forward deployed engineers (FDEs).
- Some broad questions that we are currently thinking deeply about:
- How does Insights pull narratives and trends out of factory operations data?
- How should the interface adapt to each facility's processes?
- How do we represent Laminar's impact at a plant accurately?
- How can we build internal products that are force multipliers for our FDEs?
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with data science, backend, forward deployed engineering teams to ideate, collect feedback, prototype and productionize solutions on Insights that address challenges our customers are facing.
- Work with different customer profiles to build Insights functionalities for their personas and ensure end to end delivery and success of features built.
- Work with engineers, FDEs and leadership to identify friction points and build internal products that help FDEs move quickly, achieve customer goals, and understand the Laminar model stack.
- Deliver polished user-facing features with scalable UI components that help increase the interpretability of our ML models, add more observability into the processes running in our customers' factories, and more.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Always be on the lookout for how to improve application performance by adopting latest innovations in frontend frameworks, optimizing SQL queries, or refactoring backend API calls.
About You
- 1-4 years of experience working with customer-facing products.
- Strong proficiency in React/Typescript and experience working with modern frontend tooling.
- Familiarity with Python for data visualizations, rapid prototyping
- Strong UX sensibilities and enthusiasm about building features that are performant, intuitive, and polished
- A self-driven, high ownership mentality to first, conceptualize the needs of customers with very different business needs and then, shipping solutions to production.
- An appreciation for simplicity and pragmatism when building software.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative in-person office in Boston.
