Job Summary

As a Product Engineer for Semiconductor Lasers, you will assume the function of technical product prime for an entire family of our semiconductor laser portfolio. You will be part of the operations team and work at the interface with various stakeholders and customers. You take ownership of performance, quality and reliability, yield, and product cost of your product group. You assume an active part in new product introduction, production planning, process and tool qualifications, as well as customer support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for product performance, quality assurance, and manufacturing of the semiconductor laser products within the assigned portfolio.
  • Own end to end product documentation and specifications and be responsible for product release in compliance with these requirements.
  • Ensure fabrication processes are compatible with product requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvements to manufacturing flow, test procedures, and process controls.
  • Design, plan, and execute qualification tests for the introduction of new fabrication and test processes, as well as cost reduction programmes, ensuring continued compliance with product requirements.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to support the introduction of new products into volume manufacturing.
  • Act as the lead technical interface for both internal and external customers.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Optoelectronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • ~3 years of experience as a Product Engineer, Yield Engineer, or Test Engineer working with semiconductor lasers.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor lasers, including device physics, manufacturing processes, and applications.
  • Experience with statistical methods and related analytical tools, including the ability to query and analyse large datasets.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a data driven approach to decision making.
  • Customer focused with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and German, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation
