Product Engineer (Software Engineer)

Summary

Build and ship consumer-facing fintech features end-to-end, including backend logic, APIs, and event-driven systems, to improve users' financial wellbeing.

About the Role

Join a fast-growing consumer fintech company — a subscription-based mobile platform helping everyday people manage money more easily through cash advances, paycheck optimization, and credit building. As a Product Engineer, you'll own features end-to-end, working closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to ship high-impact work that directly improves users' financial wellbeing.

This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Visa sponsorship is available.

What You'll Do

  • Build product features end-to-end — domain models, business logic, and API integrations — that make the product work seamlessly for consumers.

  • Drive deployment and iteration using a data-driven, incremental release approach toward ambitious milestones.

  • Use SQL and analytics tools to regularly evaluate product and system performance against robust data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.

  • Test and debug complex state machines in an event-driven, pub/sub-heavy backend to ensure a smooth user experience.

  • Ship to production daily via a rapid CI/CD process, owning implementations end-to-end and responding to production incidents as needed.

What We're Looking For

Required (dealbreakers):

  • 3+ years building backend features end-to-end for production systems.

  • Proficiency designing and consuming RESTful APIs, including authentication/authorization patterns and rate limiting.

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar).

Also required:

  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) — data modeling and query optimization.

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated testing, and code review workflows.

  • Experience writing SQL and using analytics tools to evaluate system and product performance.

  • Demonstrated experience building consumer-facing products (not B2B only).

  • Experience debugging complex state machines in event-driven systems.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals — algorithms, data structures, system design.

  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills; comfortable translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Go (Golang) deployed on GCP.

  • Background at early-stage startups or high-growth environments.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $120,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience.

  • Visa sponsorship available.

Location

On-site in San Francisco, CA. This is not a remote role.
